Anarchy under the Sea

In this tutorial I am using the beautiful art of Jay Trembly.
You need a license to use Jay’s art, they are available here.

I used an awesome kit called “Anarchy” by
Sky Scraps.
I absolutely love this kit, thank you Marie!
You can get it here.

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dream’s mask 195, here.

I used a Jellyka font called Western Princess on bold.
This is a free font and you can get it here.

It is essential that you sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will be a little blurry, check out my Tips and Tricks page for further information.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open SkySraps-Anarchy_pp3, duplicate and close the original  Go to effects – image effects – seamless tiling and apply it to the paper with the settings as my screenshot below.

Make a new layer on your canvas.  In your materials palette, click on the patterns button on the foreground box and browse for the paper, set the angle to ‘0’ and the scale to ‘25’ and flood fill the new layer with the pattern, then apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e28 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90% and  move a little up and to the right.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e49 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, mirror, move over to the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e24 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position in front of e49 and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e40 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place it roughly in position (we will adjust it later) and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e44 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position on the right hand side and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e61 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, drag it down below e44 and position it between e40 and e44.  When you have the three elements in position, erase the part of this layer that covers the top of e40.  Your tag should now look something like my screenshot below.

Open your tube and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

OpenSkyScraps-Anarchy-e48 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, drag down below the tube layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e25 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20% and place in position just to the left of the previous element.  Duplicate this layer, mirror the duplicate and place in position on the right hand side over e44.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e34 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position on the right hand side and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e58 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position by the side of the last element and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e22 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e53 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e35 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and rotate 80 degrees to the left, position so the tube is lying on the net and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e43, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 32%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e31 and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e29 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e27 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Anarchy-e36 and paste as a new layer.  Resize also 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments. When you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copy right information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
