About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

Catnip

In this tutorial I am using the art of Alicia Mujica.
This beautiful tube is a freebie but you do need a license to use it.
You can get the tube and the license here.
Thank you so much Alicia, I just love this cat!

I am using a pretty kit called “Spring Fever” by
You can get the kit here.
Thank you Cora!

You will need a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask, here.

Font of choice.

Remember to sharpen those elements after resizing/rotating, check out my Tricks and Tips page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 60, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-07.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open pd-crate and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-06 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, position in the top, right hand corner of the crate and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-hearts-03 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, position in the bottom, left hand corner of the crate and apply the drop shadow.  Close off your white background and mask layers and merge visible.  Re-open your closed layers.

Open pd-greens and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, rotate 20 degrees to the right, drag down below the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-grass and paste as a new layer. Resize 60% and position on the left hand side. Duplicate this layer, mirror the duplicate and resize it 90%, move over to the right hand side. Erase the part of this layer that shows at the top of the crate, we just want the bit showing at the bottom.  Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open pd-flower-05 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, mirror and flip the flowers and place in position.

Open pd-hearts, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-cloud-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and place in position along the bottom of the crate towards the right hand side.

Open pd-ribbon-05 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position along the bottom of the crate and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-string-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, place in position over the ribbon.

Open your tube, paste it as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-doodle-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, drag down below the tube layer and place in position behind it.

Open pd-swirl-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down below the ribbon layer and place in position.

Open pd-bucket, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
