Can't be Tamed

In this tutorial I used the art of Ted Hammond.
You need a license to use Ted’s art,
I purchased mine from CILM but they are now available here.

Kit used is “Can’t be Tamed” by Pimp’d Designz,
you can get it here.
Thank you Cora!

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 7, here.

Font used is Buffied, a free font, here.

You will need Animation Shop if you wish to do the animation.

Remember to sharpen those elements after rotating/resizing, check out my Tips and Tricks section for more info.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-04.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.

Open pd-print-03 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to the left. Apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open pd-handcuffs and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-music-sheets and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down below the print layer, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-prints-02 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and position on the right hand side. Duplicate this layer, flip it and move over to the left hand side. Apply a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5 to each layer.

Open pd-glitter-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50% and place in position on the right hand side.  Duplicate and move the duplicate over to the left hand side.  Apply the last drop shadow to each layer.

Open your tube, copy, paste as a new layer and bring to the top, place in position and apply the first drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open pd-flower-03 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-ribbon03, paste as a new layer, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-charm-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-feather-02 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required then add your copyright information and text.

If you do not wish to continue with the animation, save your tag as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

Animation:

Close out your layers starting from the top down to and including the handcuffs layer, click on one of the open layers to activate it and merge the rest visible, rename this merged layer “bottom”. Close out this merged layer, leave the handcuffs layer closed out, activate one of the top layers and again merge visible, rename this merged layer “top". Rename the handcuffs layer “handcuffs”.  Your layers palette should now look like my screenshot below.

Copy the handcuffs layer and paste it in animation shop as a new animation.  Go to effects – insert image effect – underwater.

On the first page change the effect length and frames per second as in my screenshot below and then click on “customize”.

When the new page opens, change the sunlight intensity and the water depth properties as in my screenshot below and then pull the little nodules on the waves so they roughly resemble mine.  If you have too many waves, just pull the excess ones right out of the box and they will disappear, if you don’t have enough waves, just pull one out from the centre nodule.  This doesn’t have to be exact, my waves are just to give you a rough idea.

When you happy, click on ok and the first box will come back and you can see a preview, click on ok again.  You should now have 7 frames of the handcuffs. Click on the first frame, you will see there is no effect on it, so delete it.

Go back to paintshop and copy “bottom” layer, paste it in animation shop as a new animation.  You will need to have the same number of frames of the bottom layer as you have of the handcuffs so duplicate it until you have 6 frames.  Click on the handcuffs animation to activate it, go to edit – select all – edit – copy, click on the first of the bottom frames and go to edit – select all – edit – paste into selected frame.  Position the handcuffs on the first bottom frame and click to set them into each  frame.

Go back into paintshop and copy “top” layer and again paste in animation shop as a new animation.  Duplicate so you have 6 copies and select all, copy and paste as you did before onto the main animation.  If you are not happy with the position, just hit the back button and try again!  The animation will be running a little fast so you need to change the frame properties to 20 (edit – select all – animation – frame properties).  Run your tag through the optimization wizard and save as a gif.  Check out my Tips and Tricks page for how to save a tag in animation shop without optimizing so you can add names later).

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
