About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I am using the awesome art of Evels-Selena.
You require a license to use Evels-Selena’s art,
available at Dreamscape Imaging.

I am using a beautiful kit called “The Orchid” by
The kit is also available at Dreamscape Imaging.

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 133, here.

Font used is Cymbeline.

As always, don't forget to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating otherwise they will be a litle blurry (adjust - sharpness - unsharp mask - radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used Paper01. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper in to the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 95%.

Open WordArt03 and paste as a new layer. Resize 75% and move over slightly to the right. You can adjust it later.

Open Frame07 and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%. Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used Paper2. With the frame layer active, click anywhere on the canvas outside the frame, invert the selection and contract it by 1.  Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection. De-select. Go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow.

Open Frame06 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, position on top of the first frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required and fit so its coming out of the frame. Apply the drop shadow.

Open String and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 70%, drag down below the frame, tube and paper layers and position so its showing slightly at the top and to the left. Apply the drop shadow.

Open Leaves and paste as a new layer. Mirror, rotate 20 degrees to the right, resize 70% and place in position. Apply the drop shadow. Go back to string and erase the long bit that shows to the right of the leaves.

Open Clock and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Plants and paste as a new layer. Resize 75% and duplicate. Close out the duplicate for now. Place the original layer in position on the left hand side over Clock and apply the drop shadow. Open the duplicate and resize 90%, mirror, position so its showing on the right hand side and apply the drop shadow.

Open Palm and paste as a new layer. Drag this layer up until its just below the tube layer. Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Butterflies and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open FlowerBranch and paste as a new layer. Rotate 20 degrees to the right and resize 50%. Place in position on the right hand side of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open Foliage01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Ivy, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Lamp and paste an a new layer. Resize 45%, place in position on the left of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open IvyCluster and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 65% and position along the bottom of your tube. Don’t apply your drop shadow on this yet as we will come back to it.

Open Book and paste as a new layer. Resize 23% and rotate 25 degrees to the left. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Key and paste as a new layer. Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open GrassyGlassBall and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Compass and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the position of all your elements and make any necessary adjustments.

Open Mushrooms and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%. Drag the mushrooms down until they are on top of the IvyCluster layer and place in position. Duplicate the IvyCluster layer and bring the duplicate over the mushrooms.  Lower the opacity slightly so you can see the mushrooms underneath and erase parts of the ivy to make it look like the mushrooms are growing out of the it. When you are happy, bring the opacity back up to 100 and then apply the drop shadow to the original IvyCluster layer only.

Crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.
