About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I am using the art of Jamie Kidd.
You need a license to use Jamie's art.
I got mine from Creative Image Licensing & Management but
Jamie now sells her licenses at Creative Tubes Outlet.

I am using a really cute kit called “Fi Fi” by
The sweet little dog is included in the kit.
you can purchase it here.

You will also require a mask, I am using Weescotslass’ mask 117, here.

Font of choice.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, essential for a good looking tag (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 50).

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used sb_pmt_fi-fi_pp5. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply your mask. Resize 90%.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_wall and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_frame1 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20. Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used sb_pmt_fi-fi_pp6.  Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection, do not de-select.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required and position nicely inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube, de-select and apply the drop shadow. Duplicate your tube layer, on the original layer apply a guassian blur of 10 and then lower the opacity of the duplicate layer to around 50. Go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow. Close off the white background. Mask and wall layers, merge visible and then re-open the closed layers. Move the merged layer slightly up and to the left.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_chandelier and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%, drag down below the merged layer and position on the right hand side, apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_greenery2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55% and rotate 80 degrees to the left. Place in position along the edge of the frame so the top leaf is covering the top of the chandelier and apply the drop shadow. Go back to the chandelier and erase any of the chain that is showing above the leaf.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_greenery3 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55% also, mirror, place in position so a few flowers are showing on the left of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi-greenery1, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 45%, rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position on the left hand side of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_greenery 3 again and paste as a new layer. Again resize 55%, place in position over greenery 1 and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_lace and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position along the bottom of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_greenery2 again and paste as a new layer. Resize 45%, position on top of the lace and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_flower3 and paste as a new layer. Resize 33%, place in position on the bottom, left hand corner of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_bow2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sub_pmt_fi-fi_flower1 and paste as a new layer. Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_fi-fi_dog and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here. I would love to see your result and add it to the gallery!
