About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I am using the art of Fred Winkler.
You need an license to use Fred’s art,
you can get one here.

I am using an awesome new kit called
“To my Friend” by
This is a really beautiful kit, thank you Schnegge!
The kit is exclusive to Dreamscape Imaging.

You will need MuRa’s Filter Meister Copies.
MuRa's Filter Meister are a free set of filters.

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 82, here.

Script font of choice.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating, this is particularly important with some of the elements of this kit to maintain their lustre (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 50).

Unless otherwise stated, drop shadow used is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used P11_TMF_Schnegge. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.

Open Glitter01_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 85%, move over slightly to the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open Doodle01_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. It will paste in the centre of your canvas, do not move it! Resize 60% and apply MuRa’s filter with the settings below, then apply the drop shadow.

Open Frame03_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10. Go back to the Doodle layer and hit delete to remove the parts that are in the interior of frame. Do not de-select.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used P01_TMF_Schnegge. Make a new layer on your canvas and paste the paper into the selection. Drag this layer down until its above the mask layer. De-select. Go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow.

Open Frame01_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and position over the top of the last frame. Apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required and apply a deeper drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open Leaves_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 60% and duplicate. Close out the duplicate while we position the original.  Mirror, resize 90%, rotate 10 degrees to the left and position along the bottom of the tube, apply the original drop shadow. Open the duplicate, rotate 80 degrees to the right and position along the right hand side of your tube, apply the drop shadow.

Open Glows_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position and erase any that are on the top of the tubes head/face.

Open Flower08_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 50% and position on the right hand side of the frame. Duplicate this layer and mirror it. Apply the drop shadow to both layers. Go back to the first layer and drag it down below the leaves layers.

Open Bottle01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, place in position over the left hand flower and apply the drop shadow.

Open Star02_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position over the bottle and apply the drop shadow.

Open Heart03_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position on the star and apply the drop shadow.

Open Flower06_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Rotate 60 degrees to the left, resize 55% and place in position over the Heart element. Duplicate this layer and mirror the duplicate. Duplicate the original layer again, bring it above the other two layers and position in the centre of them. Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open Stones_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Crow_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize also 45%, position him on the stones and apply the drop shadow.

Open Dragonfly_TMF_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 30% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positioning of all your layers and make any necessary adjustments, then crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, I certainly loved writing it! If you have any problems, please email me here. I would love to see your result!
