About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I am using the art of Renee Biertempfel.
You need a license to use Renee’s art.
I purchased my license from CILM but
Renee now sells her tubes at

I am using a lovely kit called “In the Woods” by
This is a beautiful kit with some lovely elements.
Check out the blinkies on the right hand side of
Schnegge's blog for where to buy the kit.

You will also require a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams’ mask 565, here.

Font used is PC Antique,
a free font, you can get it here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, essential for a good looking tag (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 50).

I used a nice deep drop shadow in this tag, vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used Paper08_ITW_Schnegge. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper in the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 80%.

Open Frame02_ITW_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand making sure to select around the greenery at the top and expand the selection by 20. Copy the paper again, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection. Go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow. Merge the frame and paper layers together.

Open Lantern02_ITW_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, place in position on the right hand side of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open Ribbon04_ITW_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Mirror and flip, resize 80%, place in position on the bottom of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open Heart02_ITW_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%, place in position on the left of the frame, apply the drop shadow and use your erasor tool in a couple of places to make it look as if its hanging on the greenery at the top of the frame.

Open Flower02_ITW_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%, place in position on the bottom, left hand corner and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Now we are going to add the flora below the frame, there is a lot of it as I wanted a thick leafy look to the tag, you can just go your own way here or do the same as me. Don’t forget the drop shadow.

Leaf01_ITW_Schnegge – flip, mirror, resize 80%, position top, right.

Leaf02_ITW_Schnegge – mirror, rotate 20 degrees to the right, position on the right.

Leaf03_ITW_Schnegge – resize 80%, position right over the top of the last layer.

Flower03_ITW_Schnegge – mirror, resize 80%, rotate 20 degrees to the right, position over the last layer.

Tree01_ITW_Schnegge – resize 80%, position top, left, erase any that shows below the frame at the bottom.

Leaf06_ITW_Schnegge – resize 80%, rotate 90 degrees to the right, position left hand side.

Flower04_ITW_Schnegge – resize 80%, position over the last layer.

Leaf06_ITW_Schnegge – resize 80%, flip, position top. Duplicate, flip, position bottom of the frame.

Leaf02_ITW_Schnegge – resize 80%, rotate 20 degrees to the left, position left.

Leaf03_ITW_Schnegge – resize 80%, mirror, position left.

Open Wolf_ITW_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 60%, place in position so he is peeking out from the behind the frame, erase any that shows apart from his face and apply the drop shadow.

Open LilDragon_ITW_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 20% and rotate 20 degrees to the right. Place in position so he is peeking out from below the right hand side of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open Frog01_ITW_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Mirror, flip, resize 40%, place in position dragging down below the tube layer and apply the drop shadow.

Open Mushroom_ITW_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 40%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and resize again 80%. Place in position and apply the drop shadow. I put the drop shadow on a separate layer and erased the part at the bottom as otherwise the mushrooms looked like they were floating a bit.

Open Dragonfly01_ITW_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and resize again by 80%. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the position of all your elements. Crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here. Dont forget to send me your result for the tag gallery!
