About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial you will require a close up and a body tube.
I am using the art of Keith Garvey.
You need a license to use Keith’s art,
you can get one here.

I am using an awesome new kit called “Black Beauty” by
The kit is exclusive to Dreamscape Imaging.
I just loved the colours in this kit!
Thank you Schnegge.

You will require a mask, I used Gem’s Mask 209, here.

I used a free font called Anchor Steam,
you can get it here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, essential for a good looking tag (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used throughout is horizontal and vertical 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used p02_BlackBeauty_Schnegge. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all and paste the paper into the selection, apply your mask. Resize 85%.

Open heart03_BlackBeauty_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and apply the drop shadow.

Open frame02_BlackBeauty_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 85%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10. Open one of the papers, I used the same paper as I used for the mask, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection. Do not de-select.

Open cityscape_BlackBeauty_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 90%. Position nicely in the frame, invert the selection and delete the excess. Do not de-select.

Open your close up tube and paste it as a new layer. Drag down below the cityscape layer, place in position, delete the excess and de-select.  Apply the drop shadow to the the frame, city scape and tube layers and reduce the opacity on the tube layer to around 65.  Close off your background and mask layers and merge visible.

Open flower03_BlackBeauty_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 90%, drag down below the merged layer, position on the left hand side. Duplicate this layer and move to the right hand side. Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open flower 08_BlackBeauty_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize also by 90%, place in position on the left hand side and apply the drop shadow.

Open handbag_BlackBeauty_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open crystalbottle_BlackBeauty_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open hat_BlackBeauty_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open lipstick_BlackBeauty_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your body tube and paste as a new layer, resize as required, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Add your copyright information and text then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any problems please email me here. I would love to see your result and feature it in my gallery!
