Comic Hero

In this tutorial I am using the art of Dean Yeagle.
You require a license to use Dean’s art,
I purchased mine from CILM but they are now
available at Creative Design Outlet.

I am using a fabulous free to use kit called “Comic Hero” by
This is kit is only available from Cora’s Creative Team,
I have uploaded it for you here.
Thank you Cora, awesome kit!

You will also require a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask, here.

I used the font Toontime which is a free font,
you can get it here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness (effects – sharpen – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

I used the same drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 x 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-05. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.

Open pd-frame01, paste as a new layer, resize 90% and move up and to the left slightly. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-05 again. Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection. Do not de-select.

Open pd-pp-03 and copy. Back on your canvas, make another new layer and paste the paper into the selection. Reduce the opacity to 30. Do not de-select.

Open pd-city and copy. Back on your canvas, paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and position nicely inside the frame, invert the select and delete the excess around the frame.

Apply the drop shadow to both the frame and city layers. Close off your background and mask layers and merge visible. Re-open the two closed layers.

Open pd-ribbon-01 and paste as a new layer. Flip the ribbon, resize it 50% and place in position on the frame, apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-swirl-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position on the bottom of the frame.

Open pd-road and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-cloud-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 85%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-wa-04 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, drag down below the tube layer and place in position, apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-wa-05 and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-symbol-01 and paste as a new layer. Rotate 10 degrees to the right and resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-symbol-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize also by 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-stars-01 and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-glitter-03, paste as a new layer and resize 75%. Drag this layer down so its just above the mask layer, duplicate a few times, mirror/flip/rotate the duplicates and arrange around your tag. Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text. I used a white outline width 3 on my text.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, I have any problems, please email me here.
