About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I am using the art of Tyson McAdoo,
for which you require a license.
You can get one here.

I am using Pimp’dDesignz awesome kit
“Rock-n-Roll Betty”.

You will need a mask, I used
Horseplay’s Pasture mask 17,
you can get it here.
(under “labels” on the left hand side).
Font I used is VTC-Bad Tattoo Hand One,
which is a free font.

I used the same drop shadow throughout, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, this is important to get rid of the blurriness caused (adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pd-pp-10, duplicate and close the original. Apply your mask to the duplicate, copy it and paste it as a new layer on your canvas. Resize 65%.

Open pd-swirl-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 60% and rotate 90 degrees to the right. Position towards the right hand side on the canvas and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-dots-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 90% and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-guitar-handle and paste as a new layer. Resize 90% and rotate 30 degrees to the left. Move up slightly and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-frame-03 and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5. Make a new layer below the frame, flood fill with white and de-select. Go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-lights and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%. I re-coloured my lights turquoise as pink didn’t go well with my tube.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required and apply the drop shadow. Now you need to position the tube so that it’s inside the bottom part of the frame. Check out my tutorial Sea Nymph below to see how to do this neatly, there is a screenshot.

Open pd-cherry-tatt and paste as a new layer. Resize 45%, place in position on the bottom, left hand corner of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%, place in position on the right hand side of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-01 and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 40%, place in position on top of the first flower and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd-safety-pin and paste as a new layer. Resize 75% and place in position on the flowers. No need for a shadow.

Open pd-ribbon-04 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of all your elements and when you are happy with their placement, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here.
