About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial you will need both a body and close up tube.
I am using the art of David Saavedra.
You require a license to use David's tubes
which you can purchase from PSPTubes Emporium.

I am using Pimp’d Designz awesome new scrap kit
“Punk Rock”.

You will also need a mask.
I used Monti’s circle mask,
you can get it here.

If you wish to do the animation,
You will also require Greg’s Factory Output Volume II,
Pool Shadow filter.
One of a set of free filters.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 x 650 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers, I used pd-pp-07.  Right click on the paper in your layers palette and promote background layer. Open pd-mask-01 and paste as a new layer. Select all – selections float – selections defloat – selections invert, click on the paper layer and hit delete, select none. Copy the masked paper, paste it on your canvas as a new layer and resize 75%.

Open pd-letter-splat and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and move over a little to the left. Apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open pd-print-03 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, rotate to the left 90 degrees and position towards the right on your tag.

Open pd-fence and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, rotate 10 degrees to the right. Unsharp mask (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 50). Place in position as in my tag and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 80, blur 3.

Open pd-sticker-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, rotate 15 degrees to the right and apply the same drop shadow as for the letter splat.

Open pd-frame-03 and paste as a new layer. Resize 48%. Click inside your frame and expand the selection by 1. Open the same paper you used for the mask layer, make a new layer below your frame and paste the paper into the selection. De-select.

Open your close up tube and paste as a new layer. Position inside the frame over the paper layer and resize if necessary. Go back to the frame layer again, use your magic wand to select the inside, expand by 1 and invert the selection as before, go back to the tube layer and delete the excess tube. De-select. Lower the opacity on the tube to around 55.

Go back to the frame layer and apply the same drop shadow as for the letter splat layer.

Close off all your layers apart from the close up tube and paper layers, make sure either the close up tube layer or the paper layer are active and merge visible. Re-open the other layers.

Open pd-chain and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, drag below the frame and paper/tube layers and apply the same drop shadow as before.

Open pd-staple and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position on top of the frame layer and apply your drop shadow.

Open your body tube, paste as a new layer, resize if necessary and place in position. Apply your drop shadow.

Open pd-bow and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, rotate 10 degrees to the left and unsharp mask as before, place in position on top of the frame layer and apply your drop shadow.

Check the positioning of all your elements.

Open one of the papers, I used pd-pp-04. Click on your bottom white background layer, make a new layer, select all and paste the paper into the selection. Apply the circle mask. Resize 85%. Lower the opacity to around 60%.

Crop your tag and resize if required but do not merge your layers. Add your copyright information and text then we will continue with the animation.

Go back to your merged close up tube and paper layer, duplicate twice. Close out the second and third copies and on the first copy apply Greg’s Factory Outlet Vol II pool shadow with these settings:

Diagonal – 94
Centre – 83
Horizontal – 61
Diagonal – 50
Horizontal – 53
Vertical – 50
Intensity – 128
Lightness - 128

Apply PSP blinds texture – effects – texture effects – blinds, width 4, opacity 20, colour black, horizontal and light from left top both checked. Right click on your tag, copy merged and paste in animation shop.

Close out the first copy and on the second copy apply the pool shadow changing the settings to:

Diagonal – 189
Centre – 96
Horizontal – 157
Diagonal –  50
Horizontal – 50
Vertical – 50
Intensity – 128
Lightness – 128

Apply the blinds texture as before. Right click, copy merged and paste in animation shop after current frame.

Close out the second copy and on the third copy apply the pool shadow changing the settings to:

Diagonal – 34
Centre – 118
Horizontal – 77
Diagonal – 143
Horizontal – 50
Vertical – 53
Intensity -128
Lightness - 128

Apply the blinds texture as before. Copy as before and paste in animation shop after current frame.

Change the animation properties on all frames to 30, run your tag through the optimization wizard and save as a gif.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any problems, please email me here.
