About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the beautiful art of
You can purchase the tube at
There is a tube with two lovely horses in the kit, check
out Purrr's tag at the bottom of the tut for her result using these horses.

The kit is “Ranch Romance” from
and can be purchased at

I used mask 84 from
and mask 63 from Simone at

Font of choice.

Apart from the text, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 700 and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 8 into the selection, deselect, duplicate the paper, close off the top copy and apply Weescotslass’ mask to the original one.  Open the duplicate paper and apply Simone’s mask.

Paste element 41, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 30, resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste frame 5, resize 60% and rotate 90 degrees in either direction.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below the frame, paste paper 8 into the selection, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Paste the tube, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I recoloured by tube to match the kit.

Paste element 16, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 44, resize 40%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 51, resize 20% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 23, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 12, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 54, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 11, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 52, resize 45% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 28, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 5, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 4, resize 30% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow,

Paste element 6, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 49, resize 25%, drag below the hat, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 26 on the top, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 33, write your text with background colour #61523b and foreground closed off.  Resize the text and element so the text fits nicely and apply an inner bevel to the text as my screenshot below, then apply the drop shadow changing the horizontal to 2 and blur to 5.

Check your layers and when  you are happy, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.

In this tutorial I used the beautiful bonus tube “Heaven’s Gate” from
This fabulous tube is totally free with a tube purchase of $9 from
running up to 7th November.

The kits “Alluring” from
and can also be purchased at

I used mask 1 from

You will need Filter Factory filter
for the effect on the mirror.
(Filter 10 in Gallery E).

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 65, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 830 pixels and fill with white.

Paste the mask as a new layer and resize it 40%.  Select all, float the mask and defloat it, make a new layer, paste paper 1 into the selection, deselect and delete the original mask layer.  Duplicate your paper mask layer and merge the copy down onto the original

Paste element 5, resize 90% and move up a little.

Paste element 24, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 7 on the top, resize 22%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the tube, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 25, resize 55%, drag below the tube, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and resize it another 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 15, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14, resize 55%, duplicate, resize the duplicate another 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 26, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 16, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 6, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 19, resize 30% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 32, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 3, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any adjustments.  I pulled the mask out wider at the sides as it was a little narrow.

Paste element 30, flip it, resize it 30% and place in position.  Select the interior of the glass section with your magic wand, expand the selection by 1,  make a new layer below the element and fill with black.

Open the main tube again, duplicate it and close the original.  Flip the tube and rotate it 30 degrees to the left, copy it and paste it on your canvas.  Resize the tube 30% and position it in the mirror, invert the selection and hit delete, deselect, merge the tube down onto the black background and apply the Metal Peacocks filter hitting the random button until you get a good effect, then apply the drop shadow to the element and merge it down onto the filtered layer.

When you are all done, crop your tag if it needs it, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.

In this tutorial I used the beautiful layered tube

I used my mask

I used the Windows font
Impact.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 775 by 850 and fill with white (this canvas is large as this was one of my first masks and I did not crop it enough, you can crop the canvas after you applied the mask if you want it smaller).

Make a new layer, select app, paste paper 1 into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Paste frame 2, resize 45% and move into position.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below it, the paper 1 into the selection and deselect.  We will come back to this.

Paste element 34, resize 50%, drag below the frame and paper and position towards the bottom on the right, duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and position towards the top on the left, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste the main tube on the top, resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 6, resize 90%, drag below the tube and place in position, erase the part that shows to the left of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 10, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 16, resize 70% and duplicate.  Position the original copy to the right of the tube and the duplicate on the left of her, erase the bottom of the vase on each element and apply the drop shadow to them.

Paste element 35, resize 25% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 33, resize 25% and place in position behind the tube, duplicate, bring the duplicate to the top and duplicate it again, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 3, resize 30% and duplicate, position one copy between the two copies of element 33, one, position the other copy below both of them and mirror it, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 11, resize 55%, place in position above the top cop of element 3 and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 17, resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 7 on the top, resize 30%, duplicate and mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any adjustments.

Paste the close up tube between the frame and the paper, change the blend mode to “Hard Light”, select the interior of the frame and expand the selection as before, invert the selection and hit delete on the tube, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.
