About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the artwork “Four of Swords” by
You can purchase the tube at

I used the fabulous kit “Magic of Chichi II) from
This is the second of two friendship inspired kits for
and can be purchased at

I used mask 0566 from

Font is

Unless otherwise specified, I used a  drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 750 by 800 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 11 into the selection, deslect, apply the mask with the “Invert mask data” box checked and move over a little to the left.

Paste Smudged and resize 90%.

Paste Fabric, resize 85%, rotate 60 degrees to the right and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow but with blur set to 5.

Paste frame 1 and resize 45%, select the interior of each section of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5, paste paper 14 below the frame, invert the selection and hit delete on the paper, deselect, apply the drop shadow to the frame (remember to change the blur setting back), merge it down onto the paper and move into position.

Paste the tube, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Instrument, resize 50%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Hinge, resize 18%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Grass, resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Clock, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste smoke, resize 40%, mirror and place in position.

Paste grass again on the top, resize 35%, position to cover the hard edge on the right side of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Cluster 1, resize 30% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Flower, resize 40% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Skulls ,  resize 20% and duplicate twice.  Mirror one copy and place two copies on the top, drag the third copy below the grass and position on the left, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste candles 2, resize 18%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the Raven, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I re-coloured the raven black.

Paste Clocks, resize 50% and place in position.

Check your layers and make any adjustments.   I used my pick tool on smudge and the mask to stretch them down a little.   When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.
