Sad Sack

In this tutorial I used the fantastic tube “Sad Sack” from
the latest pack 73 from
Barbara Jensen.
This tube is comes with some amazing layers and is just awesome!
You can purchase it at

I used one of my favourite kits “Steampunked” by
This kit works great with this tube and can also be found at

I used mask 2 from a freebie called “Burning Love” by

I also used mask 3 from set 8 from

Font is

Apart from the butterflies, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 95, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 x 600 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all paste paper 6 into the selection and apply Rachel’s mask.

Make another layer and paste paper 5 into the selection.  Open the mask from Raspberry Road and paste it as a new layer (it’s huge, you only see black), resize the mask 25%, rotate it 10 degrees to the left,  and move it down slightly so the wing at the top and the leaves at the bottom are not off the canvas.  You should still have the selection on the full canvas, float and defloat it, click on paper 5, invert the selection and hit delete.  Deselect, delete the original Raspberry Road mask layer and drag the paper mask layer below the first mask.

Paste element 11, move down and to the left and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 8, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  We will come back to this.

Paste element 22, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 5, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the tube, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 26, resize 90% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 15, resize 60% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 28, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 6, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 35, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 9, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13 as a new layer, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 27, resize 40% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers now and make any necessary adjustments; I made Rachel’s mask a little larger.

Go back to element 8 and click with your magic wand anywhere on the canvas outside of the element to make a selection, invert the selection and contract it by 50, make a new layer below the element and paste paper 10 into it.  Paste the close up tube, resize 80% and place in position, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Change the blend mode on the tube to “Overlay” and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Paste element 29 on the top, resize 30% and rotate 30 degrees to the right being sure to unsharp mask both after the resize and again after the rotation to keep it nice and sharp (check out my Tips & Tricks page if you do not know how to do this), position on the right and apply the drop shadow changing the horizontal to 10 and opacity 100.  Paste this element again and resize it as before, flip and rotate 70 degrees to the right, position on the left and apply the same drop shadow as you did for the first copy.

When you are all done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
