About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

Make another layer, paste the paper into the selection again, deselect,  apply mask 1 and resize it 95%.

Paste element 53, resize 45%, duplicate twice, mirror one duplicate, place the three turrets into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 61, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14a, resize 70% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

I used mask 21 from

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 1 into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Paste element 8 and resize 45%, select the interior with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below the element, paste paper 3 into the selection and deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame, merge it down onto the paper and place in position.

Paste element 4, resize 45% and repeat the above with the same paper but when you have merged the element onto the paper, rotate it 20 degrees to the right and place in position.

Paste the tube, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13, resize 55%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

In this tutorial I used the beautiful art of
You need a license to use Brooke’s art, available at

The kit was inspired by Jennifer Janesko’s art
and is by Angela at
The kit can be purchased at

I used template 17 from

The main mask is 0432 from
I also used mask 1 from
Dees’Sign Depot
to add a bit of base colour.
You can get Dee’s mask

The tutorial includes instructions for text on a curve,
I used the font

Open the template, duplicate it and close the original, delete Millie’s copyright layer, increase the canvas size using the settings in my screen shot below (note the placement), make a new layer, fill it with white and move it down to the bottom.

Make another layer and fill it with black, click on the bottom doodle layer to activate it, select all, float and defloat the doodle, invert the selection and hit delete on the black layer, deselect, apply a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85 and blur 10 and delete the original doodle layer.

Activate lg circle, select, float and defloat it, make a new layer and fill with a bright colour from your tube, I used #e6d7a0.  Make another layer, contract the selection by 4 and paste paper 4 into it, deselect.  Delete the original lg circle layer. We will come back to this and put the tube in when we completed the next part.

Activate circle 1, select, float and defloat it as before, make a new layer and fill it with the colour you used before, contract the selection by 4, make another layer and paste paper 3 into it.  Open your tube, duplicate it and close the original, apply the drop shadow you used before, then paste it as a new layer on your canvas and, resizing as needed, position in the circle, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  I mirrored my tube and resized it 30%.  Delete the original circle layer, go back to the plain coloured layer, apply some noise at 40% with the Gaussian and Monochrome boxes checked then apply a drop shadow of Vertical and Horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 5.

Make a new layer below the dotted circle layer and fill it with black, activate dotted circle, select, float and defloat it, invert the selection and hit delete on the black layer, deselect and delete the original dotted circle layer.  Close off all your layers apart from the dotted circle, tube, the paper layer below the tube and the noise layer, merge visible and then open your closed layers.  Bring this merged layer to the top and move it down and to the left a little.

Go back to the lg circle layer, select, float and defloat the paper, paste your tube again,  position it resized larger than before (remember your name is going in there also), invert the selection and hit delete on the tube, deselect.  I resized my tube 40% this time.  Add the noise and the drop shadow to the coloured layer.

Merge circle 3 down onto circle 2, select, float, and defloat, paste paper 5 below this layer, resize it 50%, position it in the circles, invert the selection and hit delete on the paper, apply the last drop shadow to it and delete the original layer.

Activate circle 4, select, float and defloat it, make a new layer, paste paper 6 into the selection, deselect, apply the drop shadow and delete the original layer.

Make a new layer, fill with black, select, float and defloat the top doodle layer, invert the selection and hit delete on the black layer, deselect, apply the drop shadow you used on the bottom doodle layer and delete the original top doodle.

Activate circle 5 and repeat what you did with circle 4 using the same paper. Remember you will need to change the shadow.

Repeat with circle 6 using paper 3.

Repeat with circle 7 but this time pasting paper 5 and resizing it as you did with circle 3.

Activate the white background layer, make a new layer, select all, paste paper 5 into the selection, apply Trese’s mask with the “Invert mask data box” checked and resize 95%.

Go back to the white layer and make another, fill it with the colour you used from your tube, apply Dee’s mask (remember to untick that box!) and resize it 80%.

Paste element 2 as a new layer on the top, resize 80% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow you used on the doodles.

Paste element 3, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 11, resize 40% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 8, resize 45% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.   I recoloured my mask gold to match the tube.

Paste element 13, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 7, resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 15, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow. I recoloured the bird also.

Check your layers and resize it now if it’s too large for you, crop and then add your copyright information.

Click on the top layer in your tag, set your foreground colour to a bright colour not in the tag so you can see it clearly, open your preset shape tool set on Eclipse and with "Create On Vector" and Anti-alias" boxes checked,  width set to 2 and line style a straight horizontal line, hold down the caps key (this will keep the shape symmetric) and draw a circle outline roughly the size of the large circle layer on your tag and move it into position as shown in my screenshot below.

Open your text tool and the font, set your background colour to a colour of choice and close the foreground off, now hold your cursor on the edge of the circle you drew where you want the text to start, when you see a half moon shape appear below the T, start writing your text all in lower case and it will follow the curve of the circle (font size will depend what version you are using, I used 18 but you will need to experiment or resize it).  When you have finished your text, look at this layer in your layers palette and, depending which version of Paint Shop you are using, you will see a small arrow or cross to the side of it, click on this and the layer will open up showing the text and the circle as two different layers, close off the circle layer and change the text layer to a raster layer.  Now apply the noise you used before to your text, apply an inner bevel as in my screenshot below and a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 2, opacity 85, blur 5.

When you are done, export your tag on a transparent background as a png.

In this tutorial I used the awesome art of
You need a license to use Enamorte’s art, available at

The kit was inspired by the art of Rene Kunert
and is by Angela at
The kit is also available at

I used mask 1 from
which you can get

I also used one of the masks in the freebie “Burning Love” from
(you will find it under Freebies).

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10 and I re-coloured some of the elements in the kit to better match my tube.

This a large tag, its mainly large because of the mask but the mask needs to be big to give the effect, I resized mine when I had finished so it fitted my blog but I would not have resized it otherwise.

Open a new transparent canvas 800 by 800 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 3 into the selection, deselect, apply Dee’s mask and resize 95%. Put this canvas aside for the moment.

Open another canvas 800 by 800 pixels and select all, paste paper 4 into the selection and close this layer off.  Paste the Burning Love mask from Raspberry Road as a new layer and position so the main part is central.  You should still have the canvas selected, float and defloat this mask (Selections – float, Selections – defloat), invert the selection, open the paper layer, click on it to activate it and hit delete, deselect.  Copy this layer and paste it on your main canvas.  You can now delete this second canvas.

Paste element 6, resize 70% and place in position.

Paste frame 1, resize 50% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste your tube, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I used the half body layer resized 80%.

Paste element 13, drag below the tube and place in position.

Paste element 11, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 10, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 17, resize 70% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14, duplicate and close off the duplicate for now, mirror the original, resize it 50%, position to the right of the tube and apply the drop shadow.  Open the original, drag it above the tube, resize it 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 4, resize 30% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, drag below the top rose, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 16, resize 40% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 12, resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 18, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste the wordart, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 3, resize 50% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, duplicate, arrange both copies along the bottom erasing any feathers in the wrong place and apply the drop shadow.

When you are done, crop and resize your tag if necessary, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
