About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of
Amy Matthews.
You need to license to use Amy’s art,
available at

The kit, inspired by Amy’s January bonus tub,
is by Angela at
The kit is also available at

I used two masks, mask 0443 from
and mask 1 by
Dees’Sign Depot,

I used the font

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, fill with the colour #9f1d0c and apply Dee’s mask, resize 95%.

Make another layer, select all, paste paper 6 into the selection, deslect and apply Trese’s mask making sure the box “Invert mask data” is checked,  then rotate the mask 10 degrees to the right.

Paste frame 1 and resize 60%.

Paste your tube, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 85%.

Paste element 14, resize 30%, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 7, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 9, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 3, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 6, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 11, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 10, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any necessary adjustments, I made my mask a tiny bit smaller.

Paste element 18 just below the frame, resize 75%, place in position, erase any that shows outside of the frame other than the dart and apply the drop shadow.  Duplicate the frame, drag the duplicate below element 18 and erase part of the top copy so the end of the dart is above the frame, then apply the drop shadow to the bottom frame layer.

When you  are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.

In this tutorial I used the tube “Lucy” from
The tube is available for purchase at

I used the kit “My Valentine” from
This gorgeous kit can be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 0492 from

I used the font

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, paste paper 6 into the selection, deselect and apply the mask, resize 95%.

Paste frame 7, resize 45% and rotate 20 degrees to the left.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste paper 11 into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame, merge it down onto the paper and place in position.

Paste frame 4, resize 65% and rotate 10 degrees to the right.  Now repeat what you did with frame 7 but using paper 16.

Paste your tube, resize, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 25%.

Paste frame 7, resize 35% and position behind the tube.  Select the interior with your magic wand, expand as before, make a new layer below it and fill with a dark grey, I used #343434.  Paste your tube again, resize it a little larger than before and position in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Change the blend mode on the tube to “Soft Light” and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Paste element 55, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 8, resize 25% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 19, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 51, resize 30%, drag below the envelopes and position on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, drag above the black flower and position on the right, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 33, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 50 above the envelopes, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 43, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 48 on the top, resize 45% and position on the left, mirror the duplicate, duplicate this copy and then close it off, position the open copy on the right and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 4, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element  10, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 39, resize 40% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow

Paste element 36, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open the closed off copy of element 48 and bring it to the top, flip it, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 32, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13, resize 25% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 40, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste wordart 3, resize 75% and place in position.  Select the word art, float and defloat it, expand the selection by 2 and make a new layer below it, fill this layer with white and deselect.  Lower the opacity of the white layer to around 90, merge the black layer onto the white layer and apply the drop shadow.  You can use a gradient glow for this step if you have one.

Paste element 12, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 16, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste spray 6, resize 70% and place in position.
