Country Lovers

In this tutorial I used the fabulous layered tube “Miss Mischief”
from the latest pack 59 from
Barbara Jensen.
The tube can purchased from

I used a great kit “Country Lovers” from
Carita’s kits can also be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 111 by

I used the windows font
Century Gothic.
The tutorial includes instructions on the carved effect text.

Unless noted, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Copy paper 9, make a new layer your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  resize 95%.

Paste element 11 as a new layer, resize 70% and position at top and slightly to the right on your canvas.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate, resize it another 90% and move it down and further to the right of the original copy.  Apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 19 as a new layer, resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the left.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20 and make a new layer below it, copy paper 10 and paste it into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame,  merge the frame down onto the paper and place in position.

Paste element  17 as a new layer, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste your tube as a new layer, place in position resizing as needed and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 70%.

Paste element 8 as a new layer, resize 65% and mirror, drag below the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 5 as a new layer,  resize 75% and mirror, drag above the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13 as a new layer, resize 75% and position behind and to the left of the tube.  Duplicate this element, resize the duplicate another 60% and position on the right in front of the wall.

Paste element 6 as a new layer,  resize 45% and position on the left.  Duplicate, close off the duplicate for the moment and apply the drop shadow to the original.

Paste element 9 as a new layer, resize 50% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 29 as a new layer, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 4 as a new layer, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 15 as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14 as a new layer, resize 50% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 29a as a new layer, resize 35% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 3 as a new  layer, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 2 as a new layer, resize 45% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open the copy of element 6 that you closed off and drag it above element 2,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1 as a new layer and bring it to the top, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 25 as a new layer, resize 40% and apply a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 9, opacity 100, blur 10.

Paste element 18 as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back).

Paste element 16 as a new layer, resize 15% and rotate 20 degrees in either direction, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check your layers and make any necessary adjustments, then crop your tag and add your copyright information.

Click on element 25 to activate it, close off your foreground colour, it doesn’t matter what colour your background is and open your text tool, find the Century Gothic font, type your name all in lower case letters and use the nodes to make it fit in the element then convert it to a raster layer.  If your text is very long, stretch the element out a bit wider with your Pick tool (always remember to unsharp mask when after using the Pick tool). When you have your font sized correctly, select  it, float and defloat it, then make a new layer and delete the original text layer.   Go to Effects – 3D Effects – Cut out and apply with the settings in my screenshot below, deselect.

When you are done with the text, export your tag on a transparent background as a png.
