Vampire's Diary

In this tutorial I used the gorgeous layered tube “Mane Attraction”
from the new pack 57 from
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube at

I used an awesome kit called “Vampire’s Diary” by
The kit is also available at

I used three masks to get the background effect I wanted,
mask 133 by
mask 0120 from
mask 1 from

I used the windows font
Century Gothic.

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page if this is the first tutorial of mine you have followed, thank you.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open  a new transparent canvas 700 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Copy paper 10, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Vaybs’ mask.  Resize 95%.

Make another layer, paste the paper into the selection again and apply the mask from Scrappy Bit of Fun.  Resize 95%.

Make another layer, this time paste paper 6 into the selection, deselect and apply Dee’s mask.  Resize 95%.  Close off the white background layer, merge visible and then re-open the white layer.

Paste element 12 as a new layer, resize 55%, rotate 90 degrees in either direction and move up.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20 and make a new layer below it, copy paper 4 and paste it into the selection, deselect.  We will come back to this.

Paste element 15 as a new layer, resize 45%, place in position on the right and apply the drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and move over to the left.

Apply your tube, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 70%.

Paste element 27 as a new layer, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.
Paste element 6 as a new layer, resize 50% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, drag below the tube, position on the right and apply the drop shadow, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Paste element 4 as a new layer, resize 35%, position just to the right of the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 30 as a new layer, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 11 as a new layer, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 9 as a new layer,  resize 45%, duplicate and close off the duplicate for now.  Apply the drop shadow to the original copy and position it on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.  Drag element 11, that’s the flower, above this layer.  Open the copy of element 9 that you closed off, drag it below the two side copies, duplicate it some more and fill in the gap in the centre.  I flipped one copy and erased some some bits to make the flowers look a little different.

Paste element 8 as a new layer, resize 35% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, position above all the flower layers and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 26 as a new layer, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Go back again to element 9, thats those flowers again and duplicate the ones you have on the right, drag them above these last two elements, move them down a bit and erase most of them leaving just a little showing on the top so the bottle and book look like they are nested in them.

Paste element 24 as a new layer and drag above the tube , resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 3 as a new layer, resize 30% and rotate 30 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers so far and make any necessary adjustments.

Paste your tube again or the close up if you have one, drag it below the frame and place in position resizing as needed.  Again select the interior of the element, expand the selection as before, invert it and hit delete on the tube to remove the excess, deselect.   Change the blend mode on the tube to “Soft Light” and apply a drop shadow to the frame of vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 15, repeat the drop shadow.

Paste element 17 as a new layer, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back).

Paste element 5 as a new layer and bring to the top for now.  Erase the hook at the top of the lantern,  resize it 65%, drag it back down to above the blood, position on the right and apply the drop shadow, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Paste element 18 as a new layer, resize 40%, drag above the leaf, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 10 as a new layer, bring to the top and resize 35%.  Paste element 19 as a new layer and resize 40%.   Place the two elements in position so the crow is standing on the text and holding the chain in its beak and the other part of the chain is attached to the bottom of the word art.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
