Stupid Cupid!

In this tutorial I used the beautiful tube “Blackberry”
from the new pack 53 by
Barbara Jensen.
You can purchase the tube at

I used an awesome alternative Valentine kit
called “Stupid Cupid” by
The kit is also available at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 230 by

I used the font

If this is the first of my tutorials you have followed, please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Copy pp2, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 95%.

Paste element 8 as a new layer, resize 50% and move up a little and to the right.  Select the interior with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.  Paste pp2 as a new layer below the element, resize 50% and position in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess paper, deselect.  We will come back to this.

Paste your main tube as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, pick your layers and merge visible.  I resized my tube 70%.

Paste element 3 as a new layer, resize 35% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1 as a new layer, resize 33% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 27 as a new layer, rotate 100 degrees to the right and resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 12 as a new layer, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 16 as a new layer, resize 30% and duplicate, place each flower in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 18 as a new layer, resize 30% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 19 as a new layer, mirror, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 17 as a new layer, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 11 as a new layer, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 9 as a new layer and bring to the top, mirror, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 10 as a new layer, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 23 as a new layer, resize 50% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow changing the horizontal to 2 and blur to 5.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Paste your tube again or the close up if you have one, mirror it, drag below the frame and position inside it.  Select the interior of the frame and expand it as before, invert the selection and hit delete on the tube to remove the excess, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame (remember to change the settings back) and lower the opacity on the tube to around 70.  I used the close up resized 65%.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export on a transparent background as a png.
