About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used two Parts 1 and 2 of a fabulous kit
“Waiting for Spring”
by

These gorgeous kits each include an adorable kitten
and are free for a limited time at the store.
To receive Part 1 of the kit you need to spend $7
and to receive both Part 1 and Part 2, just $10.
For more info, check out

You will also need a mask, I used mask 356 by

I used the font

If this is the first tutorial of mine you have followed, please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 85, blur 5.

The numbering of the elements is consecutive in the packs so you can put them all in one folder without overwriting any.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 600 pixels and fill with white.

Open and copy Paper 4, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 95%.

Paste Element 43 as a new layer.  Resize 75%, move up and to the right and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 2 and as a new layer.   Resize 75%, move over to the right and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 89 as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position on the left  and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 92a as a new layer.   Resize 65%, rotate 10 degrees to the left and place in position. Select the interior of each part with your magic wand, expand the selection by 20 and make a new layer below it.  Open and copy Paper 8 and paste it into the selection, deselect.   We will come back to this.

Paste Element 90 as a new layer.  Drag down so it’s just above the wire and position on the right.  Duplicate this layer, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.  Duplicate the original layer again, drag it up above the first copy and position higher up.  Apply the drop shadow to all layers.

Paste Element 8 as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 67 as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, position on the right, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers

Paste Element 29 as a new layer.  Resize 50%, again position on the right, duplicate, mirror and position on the left.  Apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 54 as a new layer.   Resize 75% and position on the right dragging it below element 29.  Apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 36b as a new layer and drag up to just below the cat.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 30 as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 100 as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 74 as a new layer.   Resize 65% and position on the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right, erase the parts that overlap hiding the join behind the cat and apply the drop shadow to each.  Drag the leaves which are behind the grass on the right up above it.

Paste Element 49 as a new layer.  Resize 75% and place in position.

Paste Element 34 as a new layer.   Resize 45%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 91 and as a new layer.  Resize 55% and rotate 60 degrees to the left.  Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 63 as a new layer.   Resize 30%, position below the net and apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 64 as a new layer.   Resize also 30% and position above the net, apply the drop shadow.

Paste Element 35 as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Paste element 62 as a new layer, drag it down below the frame and position in the left hand section, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right.  Select the interior of both parts of the frame and expand the selection as before, invert it and hit delete on each cat to remove the excess.  Change the blend mode on the cats to “Soft Light”.  Paste element 92b as a new layer, resize 65% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, position in the frame.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame.

When you are done, crop your tag being careful not to crop into the mask, add your credits and text and export on a transparent background as a png.
