In this tutorial I used the art of
Myka Jelina.
You need a license to use Myka’s art, available from

I used a very pretty kit inspired by Anna Marine September 2011 by
The kit can be purchased at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 141 by

The animation is an effect in
Animation Shop.

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting, thank you.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 550 pixels and fill with white.

Open pp6 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 110%.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 90% and move up a little.   Select the interior of the left hand part of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.  Open pp5, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  Duplicate the paper, mirror and flip it and position in the right hand part of the frame then merge the top copy down onto the bottom copy.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and then repeat changing the vertical to 0 and the horizontal to -5.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize if needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I left my tube the original size.

Open el6 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, drag down below the tube, position on the right and apply the drop shadow, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the left.

Open e11 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and move up.  Select the interior with your magic wand and expand the selection as before, make a new layer below it and paste pp5 into it, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and then repeat it as before.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, rotate 40 degrees to the right, place in position on the right and apply the drop shadow, duplicate, mirror and position on the left.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 80% and flip, position on the right and apply the drop shadow, duplicate, mirror and position on the left.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror and flip, resize 60%, position on the right and apply the drop shadow,  duplicate, mirror and position on the left.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, position on the right and apply the drop shadow, duplicate, mirror and position on the left.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35% and rotate 40 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, duplicate, mirror, place both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Crop your tag and add your copyright information and text and we will continue with the animation.

Duplicate the paper layer which is inside the frame.  Close off the bottom four layers, that’s the white background, the mask and both copies of the paper in the frame, make sure one of the open layers in active and merge visible.   Close off the merged layer and open the bottom three layers, activate one of the bottom layers and again merge visible.  You should now have two merged layers and in the middle the copy paper layer.

Copy the paper layer and paste it in animation shop.  Go to Effects – Insert Image Effect, choose “Underwater” from the drop down menu and change the settings to those in my screenshot below.

Now click on “Customize” and pick the settings in this screenshot pulling out the waves similar to mine but it doesn’t have to be exact and can even be a different number.  Click OK and then OK again when it takes you back to the first page.

Click on the first frame of your animation and delete it, you need to do this because this first frame will not be animated. You will then have 6 frames.

Back in Paint Shop, copy the bottom merged layer and paste it in Animation Shop “As a new animation”.  Duplicate it until you have 6 copies.  Click on the first frame of your animation to activate it, go to Edit – Select All – Edit – Copy, now click on the first frame of your merged layer and again go to Edit – Select All, right click on the first frame again - “Paste into Selected Frame” and paste the animation onto the merged layer.

Back in Paint Shop, copy the top merged layer and again paste it in Animation Shop, duplicate as before, copy and paste onto your animation.  Now to Edit – Select All – Animation – Frame Properties and change the speed to 30.

Check your animation by going to Animation - View and if you are happy, run it through the Optimization Wizard and save as a gif.  Remember, if you want to save your animation without the text so you can add different text later, you can save it in Animation Shop as a mng, more details in in my Tips and Tricks pages.
