In this tutorial I used the art of Barbara Jensen.
This tube is from the layered pack 40 and can be purchased at

re-colouring is allowed.

The kit is called “Vamp” by
This is a huge kit with more than 95 elements and is available at

You will also need a mask, I used mask 565 by

For the animation you will need Animation Shop and
Animation 246 by

I used the font

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting the tutorial, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 and fill with white.

Open SkyScraps-pp1 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open SkyScraps-E57 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E11 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and place in position on the top, left had side.

Open SkyScraps-E76 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and duplicate, position along the top erasing some of the birds so you have a nice arrangement and apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open SkyScraps-E15 and paste as a new layer.    Mirror, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E34 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E30 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E26 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and place in position.

Open the close up tube and paste as a new layer, drag down below E26 and place in position, resizing as necessary.  Go to Adjust – Hue and Saturation – Colorize, set both values to 0 and hit ok.  Apply the drop shadow to the tube and to the element.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer making sure its on the top, resize as needed, place in position and apply the shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, open it and close the original, pick your layers and merge visible.  I greyscaled the main part of the tube, re-coloured the hair and dress to better match the kit and resized 75%.  If you need help with re-colouring, check out my Tips and Tricks page.

Check the positions of your layers so far and make any necessary adjustments then we can work around them.

Open SkyScraps-E93 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, drag down so its above the bird layers and place in position on the left, apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E10 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, position on the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E71 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E36 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 65%, position so it shows on the left of the main tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E98 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E24 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E36 again and paste as a new layer.  This time resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E68, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E43 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E42 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E70 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E27 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E22 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E28 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E88 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 27%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-E35 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Again, check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open SkyScraps-E79 and paste as a new layer on the top.  Mirror, resize 70%, drag down so its above the candlestick and place in position.

Crop your tag and add your copyright information and text and, if you are not continuing with the animation, export your tag as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

Animation:

Open Simone’s animation in Animation Shop.

Back in Paint Shop, close all your layers from the top down to and including E24 (that's the pot).  Make sure one of the open layers is active and “Merge visible”.  Close off  this merged layer, open the layers you closed, again make sure one of them is active and “Merge Visible”.

Open the bottom merged layer, copy it and paste it in Animation Shop as a new animation.  You will see Simone’s animation  has 21 layers so we need to duplicate our merged layer until that has 21 layers also.  When you have duplicated the layers, click on the first frame in Simone’s animation and go to Edit – Select All – Edit – Copy.  Click on the first frame of your merged layer and go to Edit – Select All – Edit – Paste – Into selected frame.  Position the animation on your tag just below the face of your close up tube, right click and it will paste into all the frames.

Go back to Paintshop, copy the top merged layer and paste it in Animation Shop.  Again, duplicate until you have 21 layers and copy and paste it into your tag as you did Simone’s animation.

When you are done, go to Animation – View and check everything is running correctly, then put your tag through the Optimization Wizard and save it as a gif.
