About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Anna Marine.
You need I license to use Anna’s art,

I used a fantastic kit called “Dragon’s Land” by
You can purchase the kit also at

I used three masks in this tag,
 masks 22, 183 and 187 by
Gems.

Font is Dragonwick.

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting the tutorial, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 80, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 650 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pp3 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply mask 22.  Resize 90%

Resize your canvas to 650 by 600 pixels with your mask centred.  Make another layer, select all  and paste the paper into the selection again, this time apply mask 187.   Resize 90% and drag down below the first mask layer.

Open pp1 and copy, make another layer on your canvas making sure its on the top, the selection should still be there, paste the paper into it and apply mask 183, deselect.   Resize 90% and change the blend mode to “Hard Light”.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 80% and position in the top, right hand corner.  Duplicate, mirror and flip and position on the left but not right down the bottom, about a third of the way up.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el2 and paste as a new layer.   Position in the top, left hand corner and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 90%.

Open fr1 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%  and place in position.   Open pp4 and copy, select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.  Open the tube again and paste as a new layer, resize if needed and position nicely in the frame, invert the selection and  hit delete to remove the excess.  This time I resized the tube 95%.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and the tube.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, drag down below the main tube,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to  the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and rotate 15 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 20%, drag down below el1,  place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el21 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40% and duplicate.  Place one element behind the book and the other bottom, left above the notepad.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el24 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position behind the book and apply the drop shadow.

Open el2b and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el6, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el10 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el23 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.   Flip, resize 70%, drag down below el23 and position so it shows on the left, duplicate and move the duplicate over to the right, erase any parts that overlap or are below el23.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text.  If you are text runs over the key, drag it below so the key is on top, then export as a jpeg wit compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
