About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

The kit is a freebie sampler of the kit “The SO’s Love” by
This is a fabulous sampler and be sure to check out the full kit, it’s awesome!
 Thank you very much Jessica!

I used two masks, Designs by Vaybs’ mask 122 and
Vix’ Big Mask 017.

Font is Nightmare 5.

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting the tutorial, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10 unless otherwise stated in the tut.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open Paper1-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Vaybs’ mask.  Resize 85%.

Open Paper3-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and copy.  Make another layer on your canvas, paste the paper into the selection and apply Vix’s mask, deselect.

Open Parchment-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, move over to the right a little and apply the drop shadow.

Open Tules-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow changing the vertical and horizontal to 2 and blur to 3.

Open Splatter-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Resize 75% and position in the top, left hand corner.  Duplicate and move to the bottom, right hand corner.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers (remember to change the settings back).

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 60%.

Open Window-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, drag down below the tube and position on the left of her, duplicate and move the duplicate over to the right erasing any that overlaps then merge down onto the original layer so, without the tube, it looks something like my screenshot below.

Open Paper1_GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler again and copy.  With the merged layer active, click anywhere on your canvas outside of it to make a selection, invert the selection and contract it by 5, make a new layer below the windows and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Open your tube again, mirror it and then paste as a new layer.  Resize as needed, position it inside the window, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.  Apply the drop shadow to the windows layer and lower the opacity of the tube to around 40.  I resized my tube 60% again.

Open Beads-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler, paste as a new layer and mirror.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow changing the vertical and horizontal to 2 and blur to 5.

Open Staple-GI_TheSOsLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow (remember to change the settings back).

Open CornerDoodle-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Flip, resize 85%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Rose2-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 45% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Sheer-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Ribbon4-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bow-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I re-coloured the bow so there was more of the pinky colour from the tube in my tag.

Open Skull-GI_TheSO’sLoveSampler and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
