About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the  tube “Amy Lee” by SkyScraps Pinup.
The tube comes in two colour options and is available at

I used a matching kit, also called “Amy Lee”, by
This kit is absolutely stunning and is huge,
with 32 papers and 112 elements that will go with many
Steampunk themes.  I absolutely loved it!
The kit is also available at

You will also need a mask, used Insatiable Dreams mask 565.

Font of choice.

Please check out my “About my tutorials” page before starting the tutorial, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85,  blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 575 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open Amy Lee (2) and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper in the selection, deselect and apply the mask.   Resize 95%.

Open Amy Lee (54) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and position on the left hand side.  Duplicate, mirror and flip and position on the right.

Open Amy Lee (23) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60%, position towards the bottom on the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (52) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, position top, left and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (19) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 80%, position top, right and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (21) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, position just below midway down on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (74) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30% and position where the last two elements overlap.  Your tag should look something like my screenshot below

Open your tube and paste as a new layer (I used layer 8 and resized it 55%), place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (62) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, drag down below (21) and (74) and place in position to the left of the tube.   Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and fill with a dark colour from your tube, I used #4e3e2b.  Do not deselect.

Open the tube again, mirror and paste as a new layer (I used layer 8 again resized 80%). Position the tube in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.   Sent the blend mode on the tube to “Soft Light” and merge it down onto the coloured layer below it. Apply Paint Shop’s Blinds Texture effect with Width set to 2, Opacity to 50, colour the same colour as you used to fill the selection and both Horizontal and Light Top/Left boxes checked.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Now you need to repeat this with the frame placed on the right hand side of the tube or you can just duplicate and mirror the merged layer depending on whether you want your tube in the same position in the frame or not.

Open Amy Lee (2) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 12%, position on the top of the left hand frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (14) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, drag down below the frame/tube layers on the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (100) and paste as a new layer.  Drag up so it’s just below the main tube, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (112) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (51) and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, position on the bottom, left hand corner.   Duplicate, bring the duplicate to the top and position directly on the bottom of the tube to cover the right leg.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open Amy Lee (27) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 25% and rotate 40 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (55) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (17) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 20%, place in position on the bottom, left and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (37) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (43) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (49) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (26) and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 22%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (97) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (1) and paste as a new layer.   Flip, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (58) and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Amy Lee (39) and paste as a new layer.   Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
