About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the awesome art of Michael Calandra.
You need a license to use Michael’s art,
available at Creative Design Outlet.

I used a fabulous kit inspired by this tube 25-1 by
The kit is also available at

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’s mask 141.

Font is Ammonite.

Please read my "About my tutorials" page before starting the tutorial, thank you.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pp1.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, move over to the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and move over to the right but don't apply the shadow yet.

Open el18 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el17 and paste as a new layer, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position on the left.  Duplicate, move the duplicate over to the right and apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40% and place in position.  Again, leave the shadow for the moment.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 80%.

Check the positions of your layers so far and make any adjustments.

Open pp4 and copy.  Go back to el8 and select the interior of it with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection.  Open your tube or the close up if you have one and paste as a new layer, resize as needed and position inside the element, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and lower the opacity on the tube to around 50.   I used the close up tube resized 85%.

Now go back to el9 and do the same thing but only expand the selection by 5.   This time I resized the tube 80%.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, drag down below the tube and position right behind her, apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el18 again and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, rotate 100 degrees to the left and resize 70%, position so it shows on the left, duplicate and mirror the duplicate.   Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open e2 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and position on the right.  Duplicate, drag the duplicate up above the tube, resize 90%, mirror and position on the left.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, drag down below the last rose, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el6, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el21 and paste as a new layer.   Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el7 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20% and rotate 30 degrees to the left.  Duplicate, place both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Again, check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
