About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Keith Garvey.
You need a license to use Keith’s art, available from his store here.
At the time of writing this tutorial, the tube is part of Keith’s Easter Pink Sale.

The kit I used is called “LeoparLicious” by SkyScraps.
This is a fantastic kit packed full of elements, far more than I have
used in the tutorial.
The kit is also presently discounted and is available here.

You will also need a mask, I used Insatiable Dreams mask 565, here.

Font is akaDora, here.

Don’t forget to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating as it makes them a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-PP5 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E25 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 75% and move over to the left.  No need for a shadow on this element as it already has one.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E34 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E37 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40% and place in position.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10,  make a new layer below it and fill with a dark brown, I used #320c00, do not deselect.   Open your tube and paste as a new layer, position inside the element, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  I used the layer 3 of the tube with no resizing.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and lower the opacity of the tube to around 50.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E62 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E30 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and place in position on the right, duplicate and mirror the duplicate.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E32 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45% and rotate 90 degrees to the left, position on the left hand side of the tag, duplicate and mirror the duplicate. Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Your tag should now look something like my screenshot below.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  Again I used layer 3 and resized it 65%.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E35 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E15 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E80 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leiparlicious-E40, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 60% and rotate 90 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E7 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position on the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E52 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E51 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E3 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E74 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E50 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 12%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-Leoparlicious-E57 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScrpas-Leoparlicious-E53 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here and don’t forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
