About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I have again used a tube from Barbara Jensen’s
latest pack called “Gag Order”.
You need a license to use this tube, available from
Barbara’s store here.

The kit is awesome and is called “Secrets in the Dark” by
I absolutely love this kit!
You can get it also from Barbara’s store.

You will also need a mask, I used Rebel Designz mask april 7, here.

Font is akaDora, here.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating as it makes them a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pp4 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open el4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90% and duplicate. Position the two elements alongside each other as in my screenshot below and then merge them together so they are on the same layer.

Click anywhere on your canvas outside of the merged layer with your magic wand and expand the selection that is made by 20.

Open pp3, paste it as a new layer, drag down below the merged layer and hit delete to remove the excess paper, do not deselect.   Open your tube or the close up if you have one and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and again hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.   I used the close up resized 60%. Go to Adjust – Hue and Saturation – Colorize and change the Hue to 28 and the Saturation to 40.  Apply the drop shadow to the tube and to the frame.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, duplicate it and close the original, make your layer options and copy merged.  I resized my tube 65%.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.  Flip, resize 65%, drag down below the main tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el28 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40% and rotate 30 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el7 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 60% and duplicate, mirror the duplicate and place either side of the tube, apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70% and position on the left, duplicate, drag the duplicate down below el7 and place in position on the right, apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.  Drag up so its just below your main tube, resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el10, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.   Resize 60% and rotate 60 degrees to the left.  Position on the left hand side, duplicate, mirror the duplicate and position on the right, apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 18% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el27 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el24 and paste as a new layer.  Flip, rotate 20 degrees to the left, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el2 and paste as a new layer, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el17 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el18 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el23 an paste as a new layer, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  Erase some so they look like they are hooked over the word art.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
