Revolutionary

In this tutorial I used a tube from Barbara Jensen’s pack 38.
I have used this tube before but as its layered it is very versatile.
If you wish to use the same tube, you will need a license,
available from Barbara’s store here.

The kit is called “Steampunked” and is by
I absolutely love steampunk and this kit is awesome!
The kit is also available from Barbara’s store.

I used two masks, Insatiable Dreams’ mask 565 here
and Vix’ mask 133 here.

Font is Ornatique, here.

Don’t forget to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will look a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open p10 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Insatiable Dreams’ mask.  Resize 90%.

Make another layer on your canvas, the selection should still be there, paste the paper into it again, deselect and apply Vix’s mask.  Resize 95%.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, position top, right and apply the drop shadow.

Open el11 and paste as a new layer.   Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el22 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, position top, left and apply the shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  We will come back to this later.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, open it, pick your layers and copy merged.  I resized my tube 75%.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer  Resize 80%, drag down below the tube, place in position on the right, erase the part that shows below the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open el7 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el28 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 70%, rotate 90 degrees to the right and position so it shows to the right of the tube.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and place in position on the left.  Apply the shadow to both layers.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el28 again and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 70%, place in position behind the tube and apply the drop shadow.

Open el26 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, rotate 90 degrees to the right and position on the left.  Duplicate and move the duplicate over to the right of the tube.  Apply the shadow to both layers.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el6, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 55% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, drag down below el6 and position to the right of it.  Duplicate, move the duplicate over so just a little shows to the left of el6 and erase the part to the right of it.  Apply the shadow to both layers.

Open el17b and paste as a new layer.   Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20b, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el30 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Click on el8 to activate it and draw a rough selection around the centre, something like my screenshot below.  Make a new layer below the element, open pp1, copy it and paste into the selection.  Open your tube again or the close up if you have one, paste as a new layer, resize as needed and position inside the element (you will have to close the element off while you move the tube), invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube, deselect.  I resized the close up 70%.  Apply the shadow to the tube and change the blend mode to “Luminance (Legacy)”.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.  I hope you enjoyed the tutorial, I certainly enjoyed writing it!  If you have any questions, please email me here and, as always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
