About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fabulous art of Barbara Jensen.
You need a license to use Barbara’s art,
available at her store here.

The kit I used is called “Passion” and is by
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, used Weescotslass’ mask 141, here.

Font is 1 Snappy DNA, here.

Don’t forget to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating, otherwise they will be a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pd13-pp-10 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper in to the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 90%.

Open pd13-frame-03 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%.

Open pd13-pp-04 and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  We will come back to this later.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s tubes, open it, duplicate and close the original, pick your layer options and copy merged.  I resized my tube 70%.

Open pd12-feather-wing and paste as a new layer.   Resize 65% and rotate 70 degrees to the left, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd13-flower-02 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd13-flower-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd13-flower-03 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd13-foil-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd13-key and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd13-ribbon-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open your tube again or the close up if you have one, mirror and paste as a new layer, drag down so its just below the frame layer, resize as needed and place in position.  I used the close up resized 60%.   Again select the interior of the frame and expand the selection by 20, go back to the tube and hit delete to remove the excess.  Select a pale grey colour from flower-03 and change the colour of tube (for info on recolouring, check out my Tips and Tricks page) then apply the drop shadow to both the tube and the frame.

When you are done, crop  your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
