Cherry Bomb

In this tutorial I used the tube “Unflappable” from
Barbara Jensen’s latest pack.
You need a license to use this tube, available from
Barbara’s store here.

The kit I used is called “Cherry Bomb” by
This is a beautiful kit and is available exclusively

I used two masks, Insatiable Dreams mask 565 here and
Weescotslass’s mask 141 here.

Font is Mirielle, here.

Your elements will need to be sharpened up after resizing/rotating as this makes them a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 and floodfill with white.

Open pp6 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection and apply Insatiable Dreams mask, resize 85%.

Open pp1 and copy, make a new layer on your canvas, the selection should still be there, paste the paper into it, deselect and apply Weescotslass’ mask.  Go to Adjust – Hue and Saturation – Colorize, set the Hue and Saturation both to 0 and click ok, then set the blend mode to “Hard Light”.

Open e27 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, position in the top, right hand corner of your tag and apply the drop shadow.

Open e11 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and position to the left of the first element.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.  Open pp6 again and copy, make a new layer below the element and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  We will come back to this later.

Open e13 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 70% and rotate 20 degrees to the left.  Place in position on the right hand side of your tag.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate, drag it down so its just above the mask and position so a little of the greenery shows on the left hand side.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer making sure it’s on the top.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  If you are using one of Barbara’s layered tubes, open it, duplicate it and close the original, choose your layer options and copy merged.  I resized my tube 70%.

Open el9 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.   Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el23 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el19 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el26 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, rotate 20 degrees to the left and place in position.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate, resize it another 70% and place in position.  Apply the drop shadow to both hearts.

Open el17 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el28, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el20 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  If you  have a part body tube like mine, open your eraser tool, set the size to 50 and opacity to 10 and dab around the bottom of the tube to blend out the hard line.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer, making sure it’s on the top.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  Erase the part of the chain on el8 that shows.

Open el1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube again or the close up if you have one and paste as a new layer.  Drag down so its between el11 (the frame) and the paper below it and resize as needed.  I used the close up resized 75%.  Select the interior of the frame again and expand the selection as before, invert it, activate the tube and hit delete to remove the excess, deselect.  Duplicate the tube and apply the drop shadow to the bottom original copy.  Activate the top copy, go to Adjust – Hue and Saturation – Colorize and set the Hue to 32 and Saturation to 85, click on ok, lower the opacity to 55 and merge down onto the original copy.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Again, check the positions of your layers and when you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here and don't forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
