About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used a tube called “Bubblegum Sweetheart”
You need a license to use this tube, available at

The kit I used matches the tube and is called “Bubblegum Princess”  by
The kit is also available at Scraps and the City.

You will need the 20/20 mask here and also a background mask.
I used Insatiable Dreams mask 565, here
for the background.

Font is Ahoy Sea Turtle Eggs, here.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating as otherwise they will be a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princes-papers09 and copy.   Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open the tube and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements05 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, move the tube over very slightly to the right, drag the element below her and position on the left.

Select the interior of the element with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and flood fill with black.  Do not deselect.

Open the tube again, copy and paste as a new layer.  This time resize it 65% and position nicely inside the element, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube, deselect.  Lower the opacity of the tube to around 70 and apply the drop shadow to the element.

Open SNP-bubblegbum-princess-elements28 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements08 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers so far and make any necessary adjustments.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements06 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70, drag down so its just above the mask and position on the left.  Duplicate and move the duplicate over to the right.  Delete any stars that overlap or are too far out and apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements07 and paste as a new layer.  Drag up so its just below the main tube, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements60 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblgum-princess-elements60, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements50 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements34 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements49 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 12%, drag down below the roller skates, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements59, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements58 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 18%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements21 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  Save your tag and put it aside for a while.

Open another canvas 650 by 600 pixels.  Open SNP-bugglegum-princess-elements09 and paste it as a new layer on your new canvas.  Rotate 20 degrees to the right.

Open your tube again, copy it and paste it as a new image.  Apply the 20/20 mask to it, paste it on the canvas and position it inside the screen on the ‘phone.  Activate the 'phone element and click in the pink screen with your magic wand to select the pink part, invert the selection, go back to the tube and hit delete to remove the excess.  Copy merged and paste onto your original canvas, resize it 23%, drag down below the hat, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  You can now delete the other canvas.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements42, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SNP-bubblegum-princess-elements41 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 28%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Again, check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
