About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

Thank you Neonescense, I love these brushes!
I have a mini tutorial on my Tips and Tricks page
giving instructions on how to use Photoshop brushes in Paintshop.

Your elements will need to be sharpened after resizing/rotating; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open sb_pmt_island-luau-pp2 and copy.  Make a new layer below the frame, paste the paper into the selection, deslect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame.  Close off your white background and mask layers and merge visible, reopen the closed layers and move the merged layer over a little to the right.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_island-luau_beach drinks 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_island-luau_watermelon and paste as a new layer.    Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_island-luau_sunglasses, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of all your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Set your foreground colour to white and apply the lens flare brush on a new layer, tapping a couple of times to give more opacity.  Resize if needed and place in position.

Add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

several different beach themed tags from it.
The kit is also available at Scraps and the City.

You will also need a mask, I used Brutal Designs mask 11, here.
You will find it in set 3.

Font of choice.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating!! They will be a bit blurry otherwise.  Check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open SkyScraps-S-pp1 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Duplicate and merge the duplicate down onto the original, resize 85%.

Open SkyScraps-S-E32 and paste as a new layer (its very large, you wont see it until you resize).  Resize 20% and move over a little to the right.

Open the paper again and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Open SkyScraps-S-E48 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and position inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess element, deselect. Apply the drop shadow to both this element and the frame. Your canvas should look something like my screen shot below.

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize as needed (if you are using the same tube as me, I resized it 50%) and position her coming out of the frame.  Apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E57 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and position below the tube.  Close off this layer for the moment as it will get in the way when you are trying to put your other layers into position.

Open SkyScraps-S-E1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and drag down so its just above your mask layer, place in position on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E9 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E46 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position on the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E23 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E62, duplicate and close the original.  Copy your tube from your tag and paste on the sunglasses as a new layer.  Position the tube’s face in the right hand part of the sunglasses, lower the opacity a little so you can see the sun glasses through it and erase the part outside the glass lens.  Fix the opacity of the tube to around 50, merge visible and then copy and paste it on your tag, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, don’t forget to re-open the sun element E57 that you closed off.  When you are happy, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

In this tutorial I used the art of Rossana Castellino.
You need a license to use Rossana’s art,
available here.

I used a scrapkit called “TikTak” by Crazy Carita.
This is a fabulous steampunk kit with some really cool elements and papers.
You can get the kit here.

You will need a mask for the background, I used Weescotslass’ mask 133, here.
You will also need the 20/20 mask which I have uploaded for you here.

Font used is Black Chancery, here.

For the optional steam I used Industrial Smoke brushes by Andrei-Oprinca, here.
These are free photoshop brushes but they can be used in PSP with ABR Viewer.
I have written a mini tut on converting PSD brushes for use in PSP
with ABR Viewer in case you are not familiar with the technique.
You will find it on my Tips and Tricks page.

Remember to sharpen your elements after resizing as it makes them a little blurry.  Check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and floodfill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pp2.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 85%.

Open el29 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20% and rotate 30 degrees to the right.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate and resize it again 90%. Please both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Open your tube again, copy it and paste it as a new image, use a close up if you have one.  If you don’t have a close up, crop the tube around the head.  Apply the 20/20 mask, once, twice or even three times until the tube is nicely faded out, then copy it and paste as a new layer on your canvas.  Mirror, drag right down until its just above the mask layer, resize if needed and place in position, lower the opacity to around 55.

Apply your steam brush if you are using one.  I used brush 12, you will need to resize it. I positioned it below el7.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.
