About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Suzanne Woolcott.
You need a license to use Suzanne's art.
I purchased my license from Artistic Minds Inc. but
they are now available from her store here.

I used a kit called Holiday Hugs by
This is a really cute little kit and is currently
discounted to $1,
you can get it here.

You will also need a mask, I used Vix Big Mask 008 (mask 147), here.

Font is 4 Stix DNA, here.

Your elements will need to be sharpened after resizing/rotating as this makes them a little blurry; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 60, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 500 and flood fill with white.

Open pd12-pp-03 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask. Resize 95%.

Open pd12-candycane-heart and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and rotate 10 degrees to the left.

Open one of the white papers and copy, I used pd12-pp-02.  Select the interior of the heart with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  Apply the drop shadow to the heart and merge it down onto the paper layer.

Open pd12-star and paste as a new layer.  Drag down so its just above the mask, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-tree and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-holly and paste as a new layer.  Drag up above the candycane heart, resize 60% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-mitten and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and rotate 20 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-button-01 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 95%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-ornament and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-snowball and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open pd12-teddy and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are happy crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
