About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the fabulous art of Caroline Jamhour.
You need a license to use Caroline’s art,
I purchased mine from Artistic Minds Inc. but they
are now available at My Tubed Art.

The kit I used is “That Fall Feeling” by
This is a really beautiful kit and I loved working with it,
thank you Sarah!
You can get it here.

You will also need a mask, I used Vix Mask 133, here
(masks are under "Goodies" at the top).

Font is Ladybug, here.

Remember to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating, otherwise they will be a little blurry.  For more info, check out my Tips and Tricks page.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_pp4.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 95.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_frame5 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_pp3.  With your oblong selection tool, draw a selection through the wood part of the frame, something like my screen shot below then make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer, resize if needed, position in the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_branch4, paste as a new layer and make sure its at the top.   Resize 50% and position along the bottom of the frame on the right hand side.  Duplicate this layer, flip and move over to the left hand side.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_mushrooms and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, drag down below the branches, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_ribbon2, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 45% and rotate 90 degrees to the left, place in position on the branches and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_branch6 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_books and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_squirrel and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers so far.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_print3 and paste as a new layer.  Drag right down until it’s just above the mask layer, resize 70% and place in position.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_print2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_leaves4 and paste as a new layer (you will need to bring it to the top and then move it down again after resizing).  Resize 35%, position so it shows on the left hand side of the frame and duplicate three times.  Move one duplicate over so it shows on the right hand side, flip the second duplicate and position so it shows at the top, centre, mirror the final copy and position so a little shows in the top, right hand corner.  Apply the drop shadow to all layers.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_tree and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_birdhouse and paste as a new layer.  Drag up so its just above the frame, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_branch1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 90 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_clock and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_bow4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_that-fall-feeling_bird and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Again, check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I enjoyed writing it.  If you have any questions, please email me here and don't forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
