About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the “September Autumn Pack”.

This is an awesome pack comprising a gorgeous tube by
Zindy S.D. Nielsen and beautiful kit by Creationz by Jo.
The pack is on offer through September with a 50% reduction
so you get the tube and the kit for the normal price of just the tube!
You can get it here.

You will also need a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask, here.

Font is Dreamer One, here.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness it causes; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used CBJ_AKPaper14.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask. Resize 97%.

Open CBJ_AKFloralSpill and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55% and position on the bottom half of the mask.  Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and position on the top half of the mask.

Open CBJ_AKWrapFrm6 and paste as a new layer. Resize 45% and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKFrmSquare and paste as a new layer.  Mirror and resize 65%.

Open CBJ_AKPaper13 and copy.  Select the interior of the square frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Open the tube and paste it as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKClock and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKBranch3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40% and rotate 90 degrees to the left, place in position, erase the bottom of the branch that is showing below the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKLeaveSpill2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKIvy-Berry, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Flip, resize 85%, place in position along the bottom of the tube/frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKMushrooms and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, drag down below the branch, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKSunflower2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKLeavePile, paste as a new layer and bring to the top  Resize 40%, place in position but don’t apply the drop shadow yet.

Open CBJ_AKApple and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 13% and rotate 50 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKMushroom and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  We will back to these last three elements later.

Open CBJ_AKSquirrel and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKLamp and paste as a new layer.  Resize 17%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKAcorns and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20% and position in front of the squirrel.  Duplicate, mirror the duplicate, drag down below the lamp and place in position.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open CBJ_AKBird and paste as a new layer.  Resize 17%, place in position (it should be below the lamp) and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKPineCone, paste as a new layer and make sure its on the top.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open CBJ_AKButterfly and paste as a new layer.  Resize 10%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, open CBJ_AKIvyBerry again and paste as a new layer.  Resize it 85% the same as you did the first one, mirror it, drag it down so its just above the first copy, position it over the top of the first copy and erase all of it out apart from the small part that shows on the left of the lamp and apply the drop shadow.

Now duplicate the LeavePile layer and drag it up above the apple and mushroom. Erase the large leaf at the top on the duplicate copy so it looks like the apple and mushroom are nestled in the leaves then apply the drop shadow to the bottom copy.

When you are all done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did writing it, it is a lovely collection to work with.  If you have any questions, please email me here and remember to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
