About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Elias Chatzoudis.
You need a license to use Elias’ art,
I purchased mine from MPT but they are now available here.

I used an awesome kit called “Gothic Couture” by
You can get the kit here.
Thank you Sarah!

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 161, here.

Font of choice, I used Ammonite, here.

My usual reminder to you to sharpen up your elements after resizing/rotating. If you are not familiar with this, check out my Tips and Tricks page.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 625 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_pp5 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Resize 105%.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_frame5 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_pp1 and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Open your tube or close up if you have one, mirror, copy and paste as a new layer, resize as needed and position inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess tube.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and lower the opacity of the tube to around 55.

Open your main tube, undo the mirror, copy and paste as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_flower3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, drag down below the main tube, place in position on the left of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_cross1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position on the flower and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_branch, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 65% and rotate 10 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_button2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_flower2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_eye and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_string and paste as a new layer.  Flip, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_gothic-couture_flower 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and place in position.  Duplicate this layer, mirror the duplicate and drag it down below the main tube and place in position, apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are happy, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, you can email me here.  I would of course love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
