About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of SkyScraps,
for which you need a license, available at

The kit is called “Blood Thirsty” and is by
The kit is also available at

Both the tube and kit are just awesome!
Again, there are many more items in the kit than I have used
so you can get some very different looking tags from it.

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 133, here.

Font is Charming, here.

Resizing/rotating elements makes them a little blurry so they need to be sharpened up.  If you are not familiar with this, check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a heavy drop shadow throughout of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 85, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used 9.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Open frame 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%.

Open paper 6 and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection.  Do not deselect.

Open the close up of the tube and paste it as a new layer, resize 70% and position in the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.  Change the blend mode on the tube to “Hard Light” and lower the opacity to around 35, apply the drop shadow to the frame.  Close off your white background layer and the mask layer and merge visible, open the closed layers and move the merged layer up and to the right.

Open Grave 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open Metal 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35% and rotate 10 degrees to the left, place in position on the Grave and apply the drop shadow.

Open your main tube, I used the one without the wings, copy and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Cemetery and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 65%, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Harp and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Candles 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and place in position to the right of the tube, apply the drop shadow.

Open Fog and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and position behind the tube.

Open Sparkles 2 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 50% and position also behind the tube.

Open Ribbon and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35% and position to the left of the tube.  Duplicate this layer and move over so a little shows on the right of the tube, if any shows on the left of her erase it.  Apply the drop shadow to both layers.

Open Coffin 1, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Web 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, drape over the coffin and apply the drop shadow.

Open Bottle 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Cocktail 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Candles 1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open Spider 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30% and mirror, position on the web that’s on the coffin and apply the drop shadow.

Open Raven and paste as a new layer. Resize 30%, drag down below the coffin, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.

Open Blood Splatter 4 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 85%, drag right down until is just above the mask layer and place in position so just a little is showing on the right hand side of your tag.  Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate and position on the left hand side.  Apply the drop shadow to each layer.

When you are done, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text. I dragged the text out a bit wider before converting it to a raster layer and then applied a light inner bevel and of course the drop shadow. When you have done your text, drag the spider up above it.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here and don’t forget to send me your result, I love to see them and include them in the gallery!
