About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of Ted Hammond.
You need a license to use Ted’s art,
they are available here.

I used an awesome kit Union Jack Babe
which was inspired by the tube from
Love this kit and couldn’t wait to use it as its our
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations at the moment here in the UK!
You can get it here.
Thank you Carita!

I used two masks in my tag, both by Weescotslass,
no. 94 and no. 82,
you can get them here.

Font of choice.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Make a new layer on your canvas and flood fill with a nice blue picked from the kit or tube, I used #3576e9.  Apply mask 82.  Resize 95%.

Open paper 7 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply mask 95.  Resize 90% and apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 70, blur 3.

Open fr1 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror and resize 55%.

Open paper 3 and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below the frame and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  Apply a drop shadow to the frame vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open your tube and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed and place in position If you are using the same tube as me, mirror it and resize it 80%.  Apply the last drop shadow.

Open el2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down so its just above the mask layers, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and rotate 15 degrees to the left. Place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el12 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 60%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el17 and paste as a new layer.  Place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el13 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments.  When you are happy, crop your tag and add your copyright information and text, then export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here and don’t forget to send me your result and I will include it in the gallery!
