About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the awesome art of Barbara Jensen.
You need a license to use Barbara’s art,
I purchased my license for this tube from Barbara’s store.

The kit I used is called “Happy Birthday USA” by
Crazy Carita.
This is an exclusive kit also available at Barbara’s store.
Love this kit, thank you Carita!

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 84, here.

Font used is AL Dreamboat, here.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating; check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used paper4.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask. Resize 90%.

Open el14 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75%.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used paper1.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection, deselect.  Apply a drop shadow to the frame, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.  Merge the frame layer down onto the paper layer.

Open el23 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, drag down below the merged layer and position on the left.  Duplicate this layer and move the duplicate over so just a little is showing on the right.  Apply the last drop shadow to each layer.

Open your tube, duplicate and close the original to make sure you don’t resave it by mistake,  make your layer selections, copy and paste as a new layer.  Resize as needed, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el31 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 75% and rotate 70 degrees to the left, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 75, blur 3.

Open el24 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position on the right hand side of the frame and apply the original drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open el22 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el5 and paste as a new layer.   Mirror, resize 70%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el27 and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 60%, place in position, erase the bottom part of the stalk and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el26 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open el18 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65% and place in position. Apply the same drop shadow as you did for el31, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 75, blur 3.

Open el16 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, place in position and apply the original drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open el15 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70%, duplicate, place both flowers in position and apply the last drop shadow to each.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are happy, crop your tag and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
