About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the art of SkyScraps.
You need a license to use SkyScraps’ art,
they are available here.

The kit I used is also by SkyScraps and is called “Sexy BeaTch”.
I had such fun working with this kit and tube, they are both awesome!!
Again, the kit has many elements and you can get
several different beach themed tags from it.
The kit is also available at Scraps and the City.

You will also need a mask, I used Brutal Designs mask 11, here.
You will find it in set 3.

Font of choice.

Remember to sharpen up those elements after resizing/rotating!! They will be a bit blurry otherwise.  Check out my Tips and Tricks page for more info.

I used a drop shadow throughout of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open SkyScraps-S-pp1 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.  Duplicate and merge the duplicate down onto the original, resize 85%.

Open SkyScraps-S-E32 and paste as a new layer (its very large, you wont see it until you resize).  Resize 20% and move over a little to the right.

Open the paper again and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection, do not deselect.

Open SkyScraps-S-E48 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45% and position inside the frame, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess element, deselect. Apply the drop shadow to both this element and the frame. Your canvas should look something like my screen shot below.

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize as needed (if you are using the same tube as me, I resized it 50%) and position her coming out of the frame.  Apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E57 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and position below the tube.  Close off this layer for the moment as it will get in the way when you are trying to put your other layers into position.

Open SkyScraps-S-E1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60% and drag down so its just above your mask layer, place in position on the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E9 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E46 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position on the right and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E36, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 70%, position along the bottom of the frame and apply the drop shadow checking the box “”Shadow on new layer”.  With your erasor tool on size 30 and opacity set to 10, gently erase the shadow on the bottom edge until it blends in with the mask.

Open SkyScraps-S-E17 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position on the right of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E78 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E79 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E60 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E20 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E24 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E10 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E8 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E23 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open SkyScraps-S-E62, duplicate and close the original.  Copy your tube from your tag and paste on the sunglasses as a new layer.  Position the tube’s face in the right hand part of the sunglasses, lower the opacity a little so you can see the sun glasses through it and erase the part outside the glass lens.  Fix the opacity of the tube to around 50, merge visible and then copy and paste it on your tag, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, don’t forget to re-open the sun element E57 that you closed off.  When you are happy, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I enjoyed writing it.  If you have any questions, please email me here and don’t forget to send me your result so I can include it in the gallery!
