About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I used the beautiful art of Katherine Barber.
You need a license to use Katherine’s art,
they are available here.

The kit I used is a brand new kit called “Spring is Coming” by
You can purchase the kit here.
Love this kit Schnegge, thank you!

You will also need a mask, I used Gem’s mask 175, here.

Font used is Ladybug, here.

Remember to sharpen those elements after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness it causes, for more info check out my Tips and Tricks page.

I used a drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 550 and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used paper01_SiC_Schnegge.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.

Open frame04_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 85%.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used paper03_SiC_Schnegge.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection, deslect.  Apply the drop shadow to the frame and merge it down onto the paper layer.

Open grass_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%, drag it down below the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sun_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Position behind the top, left hand corner of the merged layer.

Open birdhouse_SiC_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open ladybug01_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Mirror, resize 25%, place in position on the birdhouse and apply the drop shadow.

Open splatter_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 70% and place in position.

Open flower05_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, rotate 90 degrees to the left and mirror, place in position on the right hand side of the frame, erase any of the stalks that show below the bottom of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open flower04_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open bottle_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open claypots_SiC_Schnegge, increase the canvas size to 500 x 500 and apply the drop shadow to the pots. Open frog_SiC_Schnegge and paste onto the canvas with the pots.  Mirror the frog, resize him 60% and apply the drop shadow to him.   Position the frog and erase part of him so he looks like he is peeking out of the pots. When you are done, merge the two layers together, copy and paste onto your main canvas, resize 50% and place in position.

Open your tube and paste it as a new layer, resize as needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open scatter02_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 95%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  With your freehand selection tool on point to point, draw a selection around the group of flowers on the right hand side and hit delete to remove them, right click anywhere on your canvas and “paste as a new layer”, deselect.  Drag the flowers you cut off down below the pots and place in position.

Open leaf02_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 90% and rotate 20 degrees to the left, drag down below the cut off group of flowers, place in position along the bottom of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open caterpillar_SiC_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 40%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open bee_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open butterfly02_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open butterfly01_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open grasshopper_SiC_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 50% and mirror, drag down below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of your layers and make any necessary adjustments, when you are happy, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here and dont forget to send me your result so I can include it in the gallery!
