About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

Feelin' Groovy

In this tutorial I am once again using the awesome art of
Alicia Mujica!
You need a license to use Alicia’s art,
you can get one for this tube here.

I am using a lovely colourful kit called “Feelin Groovy” by
You can get the kit here.
Thank you Sarah!

You will also need a mask, I used Weescotslass’ mask 209, here.

Font used is Bell Bottom Lazer,
a free font, here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating so they are not blurry (adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open sb_pmt_feelin_groovy_pp2 and copy.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask.

Open sb_pmt_feelin_groovy_frame3 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80%.

Open sb_pmt_feelin_groovy_pp3 and copy.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 12, make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection. We will need the selection again later so save it to the alpha channel (selections - load/save selection - save to alpha channel).

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Duplicate and mirror the duplicate. Resize to your liking, position the two layers inside the frame and when you are happy with their positions, merge the two together.  Load the selection you saved (selections - load/save selection - load selection from alpha channel)  invert it and hit delete to remove the excess on the tube layer. Change the blend mode on the tube layer to “Luminance (L)” and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

Open sb_pmt_feelin_groovy_hippie bus sticker and paste as a new layer. Resize 85%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_feelin_groovy_string-beads deco and paste as a new layer.  Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open one of the lava lamps, copy and paste as a new layer.  I used sb_pmt_feelin_groovy_lavalamp3.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube again, copy and paste as a new layer.  Resize to your liking, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_feelin_groovy_beads1 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 80% and drag down so its just above the mask layer. Duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate, place both layers into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check the positioning of all your layers and when you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  As always, I would love to see your result and feature it in the Gallery!
