You require a license to use Irina's tubes
which you can purchase at Mypsptubes.

I am also using a very lovely kit by Pimp’d Designz

You will also need a mask.
I am using Teresa’s Boundless Bliss grungmask1.
Unfortunately Teresa no longer has her site but
I believe she allows her masks to be shared.
You can get it here

Goth Addiction

In this tutorial I am using the art of Angela Newman.
You require a license to use Angela's tubes
which you can purchase at Mypsptubes.

I am using the new kit Goth Addiction by CBJ.
The kit presently has a 30% discount.

You will also need a mask.
I used Insatiable Dreams mask 195.
You can get the mask here.

You will also need animation shop.

The font I used is Rhubarb Pie which is a free font.

Open a new transparent canvas 600 by 650 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open CBJ_GA_StudFrame and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%.

Open the close up of the tube and paste as a new layer, mirror, drag below the frame layer and position to your liking. Go back to the frame layer and select the interior of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 5 and invert, go back to your tube layer and delete the excess. Back on the frame layer, apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 90, blur 5.

Open CBJ_GA_BarbHeart and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%, rotate 15 degrees to the left, unsharp mask (adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 30), drag below the tube layer and position. Apply a drop shadow vertical, and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open CBJ_GA_Glitter and paste as a new layer. Resize 25%, unsharp mask as before, drag below the heart layer and position towards the top left hand corner. Duplicate this layer and move towards the bottom right hand corner. Apply a drop shadow to both layers, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 80, blur 3.

Open CBJ_GA_Wire and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, unsharp mask as before, position and apply the same drop shadow as the glitter.

Open CBJ_GA_Charm, click on your top frame layer and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, unsharp mask as before, position and apply the same drop shadow as the frame.

Open CBJ_GA_Bow2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, mirror, place in position and apply the same drop shadow.

Open CBJ_GA_Spider and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, position and apply the same drop shadow.

Click on your bottom white layer, open CBK_Paper2, make a new layer, select all and paste the paper into the selection. Apply your mask. I resized the mask 90%.

Crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text. For my text, I took a small sample of the wings on the BarbHeart element and made a pattern from it.  When you are done, merge your layers together and we will animate.

The animation may look quite difficult but it’s really very easy. Zoom in on your tag so you can see what you are doing easier. Open your free hand selection tool, set it to point to point with feather at 0. Now do a freehand selection around the coloured part of your tube’s eye as in my screenshot below. It doesn’t need to be mega accurate at all but make sure you are selecting inside the colour part, don’t go over the white or black of her eye.

When you have done your selection, right click on the tag, copy and paste into animation shop. You will just have the coloured eye part. Go to effects – insert image effect, choose underwater from the drop down menu.  Set the effect length to 2.0 secs and the frames per second to 3fps, then click on customize. Refer to my screenshot below for the settings but again the waves don’t have to be exactly the same as mine. Click on ok.

You should have 7 frames in your animation. Click on the first frame and delete it (the first frame doesn’t animate).

Go back to paintshop, de-select the eye selection, copy the tag and paste in animation shop. Duplicate this so you have the same number of frames as your animation (should be 6).  Select and copy all the frames of your eye (edit – select all – edit – copy), click on your tag frames and again select all the frames, right click on the tag and “paste into selected frame”. Position your eye frames directly over the eye in the first frame of your tag. When you have it in position, left click and it will add into all the frames. If it’s not right, just hit the back button and have another go! When you have done, change the frame properties on all the frames to 20.

Run your tag through the optimization wizard and save.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any problems, please email me here.

I am also using Pimp’d Designz scrap kit “Cat Woman”
which you can purchase here.
The kit is presently available at the bargain price of $1!

You will also need a mask.
I used Insatiable Dreams mask 182.
You can get the mask here.

I re-coloured the kit to compliment my tube.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 575 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pd-skyline and paste as a new layer. The skyline is a little wide but we want the height so I resized by 95% only and removed the last building on the right hand side. Apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 80, blur 5.

Open pd-glitter-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, drag below the skyline and position towards the top left hand corner. Duplicate this layer, mirror and flip and position towards the bottom right hand corner. Unsharp mask on both layers (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 50) then apply a drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 80, blur 3.

Open pd-fence-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%. Unsharp mask as before. Position the fence over the glitter as in my tag and apply the same drop shadow.

Open pd-cloud, click on your skyline layer and paste as a new layer. Resize 90%. Position towards the top, right hand side. Go to selections – select all, float, defloat, selections contract by 3. Open your close up, paste as a new layer, resize if required (I left mine the original size). Position the close up over the cloud layer, selections invert and cut, merge the tube layer down with the cloud layer and  apply the same drop shadow as you did for the skyline.

Open your main tube and paste as a new layer, resize if required and place in position so she is climbing over the buildings and apply your drop shadow.

Open pd-light and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%. Drag this layer below your tube layer and place in position.

Open pd-whip and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, mirror and flip. Drag below the light layer, position and apply your drop shadow.

Click on your bottom white layer and make a new layer. Open pd-pp-02. Open your patterns and find the paper, set the scale to 30 and flood fill the layer. Apply your mask.

Gorjuss Spring

In this tutorial I used the art of Suzanne Woolcott.
You require a license to use Suzanne's tubes
which you can purchase here.

I used a gorgeous kit called “Easter Violets” by KnC Scrapz.
The kit is currently available at 40% discount from Scrappetizing.

You will also need a mask.
I used mask WSL_Mask_193 which you can get here.

Font used is DC Hibiscus which is a free font.

In this tutorial some items will be resized to very small proportions and some are rotated. Rotating and resizing like this causes the elements to be blurry. To counteract this you need to unsharp mask (adjust – sharpness, unsharp mask, settings radius and clipping on 5, strength between 30 and 50) when required.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open frame 1 and paste as a new layer. Resize 90% and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open tree and paste as a new layer. Resize 35%, mirror and position to the left hand side below the frame. No shadow on this layer.

Open sunnclouds and paste as a new layer. Resize 60% and position over to the right between the frame and the tree layers. No shadow on this layer.

Open watering can, click on your frame layer and paste as a new layer. Resize 35%,  mirror, position and apply your drop shadow as before.

Open rabbit and paste as a new layer. Resize 15%,  position over the watering can and apply your drop shadow.

Open branch and paste as a new layer. Resize 45%, rotate to the right 60 degrees,  position and apply your drop shadow.

Open flowers and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%,  position and apply your drop shadow.

Open flower 4 and paste as a new layer. Resize 20%, position and apply your drop shadow.

Open flower 2 and paste as a new layer.  Resize 20%, position and apply your drop shadow.

Open flower 5 and paste as a new layer. Resize 15%,  position and apply your drop shadow.

Open bird 2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 20%, mirror, position and apply your drop shadow.

Open flower 6 and paste as a new layer. Resize 15%, position and apply your drop shadow.

Open broken egg and paste as a new layer. Resize 12%, position and apply your drop shadow.

Open grass 2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%, drag this layer below the broken egg layer and apply a drop shadow, this time vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 30, blur 3.

Open flowers1 and paste as a new layer. Resize 30%, position and apply the first drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, position and apply the first drop shadow.

Open grass 2 again and copy and paste as a new layer. Resize 25% and apply the same drop shadow as the previous grass layer. I positioned this over the feet of my tube.

Open flower1 (purple crocus) and paste as a new layer. Resize 10%. Duplicate this layer a couple of times and place around the bottom of your tube with some below and some above the last grass layer. Apply the first drop shadow to each layer.

Open ray of light and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, mirror, rotate 10 degrees to the right. Drag this layer down below your tube layer and position so the ray is coming out from the cloud as in my tag. No shadow on this layer.

Open element 2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 35% and move down a little so it looks like dust motes around your tube.  No shadow on this layer.

Click on your bottom white layer, make a new layer and select all. Open a paper of your choice, I used pp7, paste into selection, de-select and apply your mask. My mask layer was a little small, I resized it by 105%.

Crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any problems, please email me here.

Star Quality

I this tutorial I used the art of Baron Von Lind.
You require a license to use the Baron's tubes
which you can purhase from Mypsptubes.

Again I am using the kit “Diamonds Are…” from Pimp’d Designz.
You will need a mask, I used Monty’s Circle mask.
 you can get it here.

You will also need the filters MuRa’s Meister copies and
Greg’s Factory Outlet Volume II, Pool Shadow.

I used the font Parisian BT, which is a free font.

You will need a preset star shape which you should have included with your programme.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 650 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pd-pp-04, make a new layer, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply Monti’s circle mask.

Open pd-frame-01 and paste as a new layer. Rotate 90 degrees in either direction, resize 80% and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5, position towards the right on your canvas.

Open your tube and position on top of the frame layer. Adjust – hue and saturation – colourize, both settings on 0. Adjust – brightness and contrast – brightness/contrast – brightness set to 48, contrast 0. You may need to play around with the brightness/contrast setting depending on what tube you are using.  Duplicate the tube layer. Apply your drop shadow to the original layer.

On the copy tube layer go to effects – MuRa’s Meister – Copies. Set your preset menu to seamless, the only other setting I changed was the number of copies to 60. Drag this layer down below your frame and mirror. With your magic wand select the interior of both parts of the frame, expand the selection by 10, position the copies layer so you have a nice part showing in the frame, invert the selection and delete the excess part of the layer.

Duplicate your copies layer twice so you have three copies and apply Greg’s Pool Shadow to each layer. You can play around with the sliders to your liking or use my settings below.

First copy – diagonal 50, centre 50, horizontal 107, diagonal 143, vertical 50, intensity 22, lightness 128.

Second copy – diagonal 97. centre 20, horizontal 255, diagonal 94. vertical 50, intensity 22, lightness 128.

Third copy – diagonal 50, centre 117, horizontal 136, diagonal 101, vertical 50, intensity 22, lightness 128.

On each copies layer apply the blinds texture – effects, texture effects, blinds, width 4, opacity 10, horizontal and light from left/top both checked.

Make a new layer above your mask layer.  With your background on white and foreground closed off, open your preset shape tool and find a star shape. With “anti-alias” and “create as vector” checked, hold down the shift key to keep a uniform shape and draw a large star to the left of your frame using my tag for reference.. Convert the star to a raster layer. Select all, selections float, selections de-float, selections contract by 4.  Open pd-pp-10 and paste into the selection, de-select and apply a drop shadow as before.

Open pd-stars-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and unsharp mask with clipping and radius set to 5 and strength to 50 (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask). Position and apply your drop shadow.

Open pd-bag-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position and apply your drop shadow.

Open pd-bottle-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position and apply your drop shadow.

Add any other embellishments from the kit, I used pd-ribbon-02,  pd-clip-01,  pd-stitch-01,  pd-flower-01 and pd-flower-02.  Don’t forget your drop shadows and to unscharp mask on anything rotated.

Resize as required, add your copyright information and text, then we will animate.

Go to your 3 copies layers and close off the second and third copy. Right click and copy merged, open animation shop and paste as a new animation. Go back to PSP, close off the first copies layer and open the second one, again right click, copy merged and paste in animation shop “after current frame”. Do the same with the third copies layer. Change the animation frame properties on each layer to 30 (animation – frame properties). Optimize your animation and save.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any problems, please email me here.

Please take a look at Jo’s blogspot here.
I used the tagger sized kit which is exclusive to Dreamscape Imaging.

I re-coloured some of the elements in the kit to compliment my tube.

You will also need a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask.
You can get the mask here.

Open a new transparent canvas size 600 x 600 pixels and floodfill with white.

Open CBJ_AngelWhispersSteps and paste as a new layer. Resize by 45% and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 60, blur 5.

Open CBJ_AngelWhispersAngelicFrame and paste as a new layer. Resize by 65%, drag this layer below the steps and position. Click inside the frame and expand the selection by 10. Paste your tube as a new layer and position inside the frame. Invert the selection and cut to remove the excess tube. Drag this layer below the frame layer. My tube filled the inside of the frame, you may need to put another layer below the tube and fill with either a paper or a complimentary colour if your tube doesn’t fill the frame completely.   Go back to the frame layer and apply a drop shadow as before.

Open CBJ_AngelWhispersVine and paste as new layer. Resize by 20% and rotate to the left by 5 degrees. Go to adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask with the settings on radius and clipping 5, strength 50. Position the vine on the left hand side of the frame and apply the same drop shadow as before.  Erase part of the vine at the top so it looks like it twines below the frame.

Open CBJ_AngelWhispersClockface and paste as a new layer. Apply the same drop shadow as before, drag the layer below the steps and position.

Open CBJ_AngelWhispersCloud and paste as a new layer. Resize by 50% and position over the top of the steps. Erase the part of the cloud that shows over the frame.

Click on your top layer and paste your tube again as a new layer. Resize if necessary, apply the same drop shadow as before and position.

Open CBJ_AngelWhispersAngelicLightBeam and paste as a new layer. Drag this layer below your tube and resize. I resized mine by 70% but it depends on the size of your tube, be careful not to have the light beam going over the edge of your canvas as it will make a hard cut off line. When I had the light beam in position, I duplicated it to give it more emphasis as my tag is light coloured. No shadow on these layers.

Add a few elements around your tube and base of the frame. I used the orchids, the lantern, the feather and the scroll around my tube and some flowers at the bottom of my frame. Sharpen as before if you rotate any or if they need it after resizing and apply drop shadows.

Open CBJ_AngelWhispersLights and paste as a new layer. Resize by 65%. Drag this layer so its just above your bottom white background layer and position to the right hand side, duplicate and position the duplicate to the left. No shadow on these layers.

Open CBJ_AngelWhispersTreeStars and paste as a new layer. Resize by 25% and position to the left of your tag. Duplicate this layer and mirror. Position the duplicate to the left a little lower than your first layer. Merge these two layers together and apply a drop shadow as before. Erase any that shows at the bottom of your tag.

Click on your white background layer, make a new layer and select all, open CBJ_AngelWhispersPaper10 and paste into the selection. Apply your mask.

Resize if required and add your copyright information and text. I used the font P22ZanerFour with a slight bevel and drop shadow as before.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any problems, please email me here.

Steampunk

This tutorial uses the art of Myka Jelina and requires a license.
You can purchase Myka’s tubes/licenses here.

I used the beautiful kit Metallica by CBJ.
Please visit Jo’s blog here.

The tutorial uses Filters Unlimited 2.
You will also need a mask of choice and a font.
I used Monotype Corsiva.

Open a new canvas 650 x 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open CBJ_Metallica_TripleFrame and paste as a new layer. Resize by 50%. Go to Adjust – Sharpen – Unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 50.

With your magic wand click inside each part of the frame and expand your selection by 8.  Make a new layer and flood fill with a dark colour from your tube.  Drag this layer below the frame. Back on the frame layer apply a drop shadow horizontal and vertical 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Duplicate the tube twice, resize/mirror the layers to your liking and position between the frame and dark colour layers. Add a drop shadow to each tube the same settings as before.  Remove the parts of the tubes that show outside the frame.

Change the blend mode on the right and left hand tubes to overlay, leaving the centre tube on normal.  Close all layers apart from the three tube layers and the background colour layer below the frame. Merge visible and then re-open the closed layers.

We are now going to apply some effects on the merged layer to give it an aged look.

Filters Unlimited 2 – Photo Aging Kit – Dust and Scratches. Move the texture slider until you get a look you like. You can apply the filter more than once to get a better effect.

Apply Filters Unlimited 2 – Photo Aging Kit – Dirt and Dust. I used the default settings for this, how much you need depends on how much dust you put on with the first filer.

Apply Filters Unlimited 2 – Photo Aging Kit – Coffee Ring. This makes a nice dirty coffee cup stain! As before, move the sliders until you get a look you like, you can position the coffee stain and change the size with the sliders. Again you can use the filter more than once.

Click on your top frame layer, open your main tube again and paste as a new layer. Resize and position to your liking. Apply the same drop shadow as before.

Open CBJ_Metallica_BeadCog and paste as a new layer. Resize by 50% twice, unsharp mask as before and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 50, blur 3. Drag this layer down until its above your bottom background layer and position it to the left as in my tag.

Open CBJ_MetallicaFlowerB and paste as a new layer.  Resize by 50% and then by 80%. Unsharp mask with the same settings as before and apply the same drop shadow as you did for the frame and tubes. Place in position over the cog.

Open CBJ_Metallica_Rings and paste as a new layer. Resize by 50%, unsharp mask as before and apply the same drop shadow as you did to the cog. Drag this layer below the cog and flower layers and position. I erased a few down the bottom and around the flower.

Click on your top tube layer and open one or more of the butterflies. I used CBJ_Metallica_Butterfly3 which I resized to 15%, rotated 20 degrees to the left unsharpened as before but with the strength at 50 and added my drop shadow. I used the same butterfly again, this time rotated to the right.

Click on your white background layer and make a new layer, select all, open CBJ_Metallic_Paper5 and paste as a new layer. Apply your mask.

Crop your tag and resize as required.

Add your copyright and text. For the main font I used the paper 5 at a scale of 20 as the outline and a colour from my tube as the background. I applied an inner bevel – bevel 2, width 8, smoothness 10, depth 2, ambiance 0, shininess 10, angle 315, intensity 30 and elevation 60. I then applied the same drop shadow as I did on the frame.

If you have any problems, please email me here.

Miss Cutie

This tutorial uses the art of Lady Mishka and requires a license to be used.
You can purchase her tubes here.

The kit I am using is called Emo Cutie by Pimp’d Designz.

There are no plugins or filters used.

Open a new canvas 600 x 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open pd-frame-05 and paste as a new layer. Resize by 60%. Click in the two parts of the frame with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10, make a new layer and drag the layer below the frame.  Open pd_paper_05 and paste into selection. De-select. Go back to your frame layer and apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 60, blur 5.

Open pd-wire-01, click on your white background layer and paste as a new layer. Resize by 90% and rotate to the left 60 degrees. Adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask, settings radius and clipping 5, strength 50. Duplicate this layer and position both layers as in my tag. Apply a drop shadow to each layer the same as before except changing the blur to 3.

Open pd_glitter_01 and paste as a new layer. Resize by 80%. Unsharp mask as before, duplicate the layer and position as in my tag. Apply the same drop shadow to both layers as you did to the wire.

Open pd_stars_01 and paste as a new layer. Resize by 80%. Unsharp mask as before but change the strength to 30. Duplicate this layer and position as in my tag. Apply a drop shadow the same as you did for the frame.

Open pd_paint_02, click on your frame layer and paste the paint as a new layer. Resize by 70% and rotate to the left 20 degrees. Apply the same drop shadow as you did for the wire.

Open pd_chain_01 and paste as a new layer. Resize by 60%. Unsharp mask as before with your strength set to 30. Move over to the right as in my tag and apply the same drop shadow. Erase the top part of the ring so it looks like its hanging on the frame.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize and position to your liking. Apply a drop shadow the same as you did to your frame.

Crop and resize your tag to your liking.

Add your copyright information and text.  I used An Unfortunate Event for my main text.

Click on your white background layer. Select all and make a new layer. Open pd_pp_11 and paste into selection and apply a mask of choice.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any problems, please email me here.

Bunny Season Animated

In this tutorial I used the art kit Bunny Season by KatNKDA.
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used Monty’s circle mask here.
I used the font CK Newsclips which is a free to use font.

I am using paintshop X3 but the tutorial can be done in other versions.
You will also need animation shop if you want to do the animation.

Open a new canvas 650 x 600 pixels and floodfill with white.

Open element 16 and paste as a new layer. Resize by 50% twice. Apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 40, blur 3.

Open element 52 and resize by 50% and then by 40%. Pull this layer down below the first layer. Click inside the element with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5. Make a new layer. Open paper 15 and paste into the selection. Drag this layer down below the element layer. Go back to the element layer and apply a drop shadow  the same as before.

Open one of the bunnies and paste as a new layer above the other layers. Resize by 50% and then 60% and put in him position. Apply a drop shadow vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 40, blur 10.

Open element 18 and paste as a new layer. Resize by 50% and by 40%  then rotate it by 90 degrees in either direction. Adjust, sharpness, unsharp mask, settings - radius and clipping on 5 and strength on 30.  Duplicate this layer then flip and mirror the duplicate. Place both layers at the bottom of your bunny and apply a drop shadow to each the same as before.

Open one of the bows, paste as a new layer and position, I used element 02 which I resized by 50% four times and applied the same drop shadow before.

Paste element 18 again as a new layer. Resize by 50% and then by 80%. Rotate to the right 10 degrees. Unsharpen mask as before.  Drag this layer below the bunny, position to the right and apply a drop shadow the same as for the bunny.

Open element 01 and paste as a new layer. Resize by 50% twice. Position over element 18 and apply the same drop shadow. Erase any that shows below the bunny.

Open element 35 and paste as a new layer. Resize by 50% twice. Position over to the left and apply the same drop shadow as the previous two elements.

Open element 22 or 23 whichever is your colour choice and paste as a new layer.  Resize by 50% three times. Drag this layer down to just above your background layer, duplicate it and position around the tag to your liking.  Apply a drop shadow to each layer vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 40, blur 3.

Open element 20 or 21 and paste as a new layer. Resize by 50% three times. Duplicate and position around your tag also. Apply a drop shadow to each layer vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 40, blur 5.

Click on your bottom background layer and select all. Make a new layer. Open paper 12 and paste into selection. Apply your mask.

Resize if required and add your KatNKDA copyright and license information and your text.

We will now go on to animate the bunny.

Click on the bunny layer and duplicate it. On the duplicate layer, with your freehand selection tool set on point to point, feather 0 and anti lias checked, draw a free hand selection around his nose as in my screen shot below. The selection needs to be tight around the base of his nose but just a rough outline around the rest of it.

Open your warp brush and set it on the push mode, size 50, hardness 0, strength 100.
Hold the brush about central on his nose and push it very slightly upwards. It only needs a very slight movement. The selection will stop the mouth from moving also. De-select.

Now X out this layer. Right click on the tag, copy merged and paste it into animation shop.  Back in psp, X out the first bunny layer and open the copy. Copy merged again and paste in animation shop after the first frame.

Put your tag through the optimization wizard and save.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any problems, please email me here.
