Mama Claus

Mama Claus

In this tutorial I am using the gorgeous art of Alicia Mujica.
You require a license to use Alicia’s art,
you can get one here.
This tube comprises a close up as well as a full body.

I am using a lovely kit called “Again Christmas” by
Check out the links on the right hand side of Schnegge’s blog
to see where she sells her kits.
Thank you Schnegge!

I used two masks on my tag, Insatiable Dreams mask 372, here and
Becky’s mask 035, which I have uploaded for you here as Becky
no longer has her site

For the texture on the close up tube, I used penta.com color dot.

Font of choice.

Remember to sharpen your elements after resizing to take away the blurriness (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 30.

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 650 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used p09_AgChr_Schnegge. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all and paste the paper into the selection, apply Insatiable Dreams mask. Resize 75%.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used p11_AgChr_Schnegge. Make another layer on your canvas, you should still have the selection, paste the paper into it and apply Becky’s mask. De-select and again resize 75%.

Open frame02_AgChr_Shnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%.  Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 20.

Open another of the papers and copy, I used p05_AgChr_Schnegge.  Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection. Do not de-select.

Open your close up tube, mirror if required and paste as a new layer. Resize if needed and position nicely in the frame. When you are happy, invert the selection and hit delete to remove the excess.  Lower the opacity to around 80 and apply penta.com color dot filter on the default settings.  Go back to the frame layer and apply the drop shadow. Close off your background layer and both mask layers and merge visible. Re-open the closed layers.

Open deco06_AgChr_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, drag down below the merged layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open swag02_AgChr_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%, place in position so its showing on the right hand side of the frame.  Apply the drop shadow.

Open doodle01_AgChr_Schnegge, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open swag01_AgChr_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, place in position along the bottom of the frame and apply the drop shadow.

Open deco02_AgChr_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open woodentrain_AgChr_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 65% and place in position, apply the drop shadow and erase the parts out that are over the bow on the swag so it looks like the train is below it.

Open elf01_AgChr_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 40%, drag him down below the swag layer and position him so he is peeking out at the side.  Apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube, paste as a new layer and bring to the top.  Resize if needed, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.  I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery!
