About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I am using the art of Jessica Dougherty.
You need  license to use Jessica’s art.
I purchased mine from CILM
but they are now available here.

Scrap kit used is “Happy New Year” by
You can get it here.
Thank you Sarah!

You will also need a mask, I used Brutal Designs mask 11, here.

Font used is Cocktail Bubbly,
a free font, here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing to take away the blurriness (adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 50).

Unless otherwise stated, drop shadow is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 70, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used sb_pmt_happy new year_pp6. Open a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 80%.

Open sb_pmt_happy new year_word art1 and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%.

Open sb_pmt_happy new year_glitter spray1 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, apply the drop shadow and move over to the right hand side.

Open sb_pmt_happy new year_glitter spray2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, mirror, apply the drop shadow and move over to the left.

Open sb_pmt_happy new year_swirl2 and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%, apply the drop shadow and move over to the right.

Open sb_pmt_happy new year_clock and paste as a new layer. Resize 55% and move slightly up and to the left. Apply the drop shadow and then repeat the drop shadow with the vertical and horizontal set to -2.

Open sb_pmt_happy new year_cluster and paste as a new layer. Resize 62%, drag down below the swirl layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sb_pmt_happy new year_stars, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 40%, mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow changing the vertical and horizontal back to 2.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open a couple of the flowers or other décor elements, resize to your liking, drag down below the tube layer and place in position. I used sb_pmt_happy new year_flower2 resized 50% and sb_pmt_happy new year_flower 5 resized 40%. Don’t forget to apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open sb_pmt_happy new year_sparkles and paste as a new layer, resize 80% and place in position.

Open sb_pmt_happy new year_champagne bucket, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check the positions of all your layers and when you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here. As always, I would love to see your result and include it in the gallery.
