About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I am using the art of Caroline Jamhour.
You require a license to use Caroline’s art,
I purchased mine at Artistic Minds Inc. but
Caroline now sells at My Tubed Art.

I am using a really beautiful kit called “Forever Twilight” by
You can get the kit here.
As Schnegge says, this is a beautiful, dreamy kit, I loved it,
thank you Schnegge!

I used two masks in my tag, mask 11 and mask 22 by Gems,
you can get them here.
Both masks are in set 1.
I also used the 20-20 mask on the tube, here.
Save this mask to your masks folder in my documents – my psp files – masks.

Font used is Evanescent.
This is a beautiful free font, you can get it here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing and rotating, essential for a good looking tag (adjust – sharpness – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used p05_ft_Schnegge. Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply gemsmask22. Resize 85%.

Open another of the papers in a different colour and copy, this time I used p04_ft_Schnegge. Do the same as you did for the first mask, this time applying gemsmask11. Resize this layer 90% and lower the opacity to around 70.

Open branch01_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Flip, resize 80%, move over to the left and apply the drop shadow.

Open branch03_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Rotate 90 degrees to the right, resize 80% and apply the drop shadow. Position over the top of the first branch, later you can go back and erase the stalk that is too long at the bottom.

Open branch02_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Mirror, resize 70%, place in position over the first two branches and apply the drop shadow.

Open mushroom01_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Mirror if needed, drag down below the branch and mushroom layers, resize as required and place in position. Apply the 20-20 mask to the tube (layers – load/save mask – load mask from disk, browse for the mask and make sure fit to layer is checked).  If you still have any harsh lines at the edge of your tube, grab your erasor brush, size 50 and opacity 10 and dab around them to blend them out.

Open branch01_ft_Schnegge again, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Again flip and resize 80%, mirror,  rotate 20 degrees to the left, place in position on the right hand side and apply the drop shadow. You may need to erase some of this that shows on the left of your main tube later.

Open your tube again and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open sparkles01_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 70% and place in position over the tube. (I mirrored this element but only because otherwise she had a big bubble in the middle of her face).

Open lamp01_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 70%, place in position and apply the drop shadow. Again you will need to go back and erase some from the bottom when you have the rest of your elements in place.

Open clock_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Rotate 20 degrees to the right and resize 65%. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open bottle02_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open one of the ribbons and paste as a new layer, I used ribbon01_ft_Schnegge. Rotate 20 degrees to the right and resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open a couple of the flowers, resize and place in position. I used flower08_ft_Schnegge resized 50% and flower01_ft_Schnegge resized 35%.

Open unicorn01_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer. Resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open butterfly04_ft_Schnegge and paste as a new layer.  Resize 25% and rotate 20 degrees to the left (I did the unsharp mask twice on this layer as it was very blurry). Duplicate and mirror the duplicate. Place both butterflies into position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Check the position of your layers and make any adjustments.

Crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions, please email me here. I would love to see your result and put it in my gallery!
