About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Vivienne, living in the UK and married with a son who now lives in Perth, Australia and a daughter who has given me two gorgeous grandsons! Paint Shop has been my hobby for more years than I can remember and I love making tags. I have always loved doing tutorials written by others and a couple of years ago started writing them myself. As well as tag tutorials, I also have a Tips and Tricks page where you will find tutorials on basic Paint Shop techniques. I hope you enjoy my blog and have fun with my tutorials. Please be sure also to check out the Tag Gallery and see some of the awesome results to the tutorials!

In this tutorial I am using the art of Unholy Vault Designs.
You need a license to use Unholy Vault’s art,
you can get one here.
This tube was part of the Xmas present to customers from Psp Tubes Emporium.

I am using a gorgeous freebie kit given as a Christmas present by
Jan’s Wonderful World of Words.
This is a lovely kit with some beautiful word art included!
Thank you Jan!
You can get the kit here.

You will also need a mask, I used Gem’s mask 22, here.

Font of choice.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after rotating/resizing to take away the blurriness (adjust – sharpen – unsharp mask, radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Drop shadow used throughout is vertical and horizontal 2, opacity 75, blur 5.

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 600 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used WWW_ChristmasPresent11_paper5.  Make a new layer on your canvas, select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 80%.

Open WWW_ChristmasPresent11_fireplace and paste as a new layer. Resize 80% and apply the drop shadow. Move over slightly to the right.

Open WWW_ChristmasPresent_pineswag and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, place in position on the fireplace and apply the drop shadow.

Open WWW_ChristmasPresent_santaornament and paste as a new layer. Resize 30% and hang it on the swag, apply the drop shadow.

Open WWW_ChristmasPresent_tree and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open WWW_ChristmasPresent-envelope and paste as a new layer. Resize 25% and rotate 10 degrees to the right. Drag down below the tube layer, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open one of the candles and paste as a new layer, I used WWW_ChristmasPresent_candle4 resized 25%.  Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open one of the stockings and paste as a new layer, I used www_ChristmasPresent_stocking1 mirrored and resized 50%. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open one of the lollipops and paste as a new layer. I used www_ChristmasPresent_lollipop1 resized 25%. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Open WWW_ChristmasPresent_Ribbon5 or Ribbon 6 and paste as a new layer. Resize 40% and duplicate. Position one ribbon either side of your tube and apply the drop shadow to each layer.

Open WWW_ChristmasPresent_wordart, choose one of the colours, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 80%. I duplicated the word art to make the colour a little deeper as it wasn’t showing up enough and then merged the two layers together. Place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Crop your tag and resize if required, add your copyright information and text and export as a jpeg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have any questions, please email me here.
