Lil' Gothabilly

In this tutorial I am using the fantastic art of Screaming Demons.
You require a license to use Screaming’s art,
they are available at Scraps and the City.

I am using an awesome kit called “Gothabilly”
You can get the kit here.

You will also require a mask, I used Monti’s circle mask, here.

Font used is Dare to Differ.
This is a free font and you can get it here.

Don’t forget to sharpen your elements after resizing/rotating to take away the blurriness (effects – sharpen – unsharp mask – radius and clipping 5, strength 30).

Open a new transparent canvas 650 by 650 pixels and flood fill with white.

Open one of the papers and copy, I used pd-pp-04.  Make a new layer on your canvas and select all, paste the paper into the selection, de-select and apply the mask. Resize 80%.

Open pd-print-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%.

Open pd-frame-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 65% and rotate 20 degrees to the right. Select the interior of the frame with your magic wand and expand the selection by 5.

Open another of the papers and copy, this time I used pd-pp-03. Make a new layer below the frame layer and paste the paper into the selection, de-select. Apply a drop shadow to the frame vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open pd-frame-4 and paste as a new layer. Resize 65%. Drag down below the first frame and paper layers and position so its showing at the top of the first frame. Duplicate this layer and move the duplicate down so it shows at the bottom. Erase the part that overlaps the first layer on the left hand side and erase the part of the first frame that overlaps on the right hand side. Merge the two layers together.

With your selection tool set to rectangle, draw a rectangle around the interior of the frame. Open the paper you used for the interior of the first frame again, copy, make a new layer below this second frame and paste into selection. Apply the last drop shadow to the frame.

Open pd-tattoo and paste as a new layer. Resize 80%, drag down below all the frame and paper layers and position on the left hand side. Apply a drop shadow, this time vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 80, blur 3.

Open pd-wire and paste as a new layer. Resize 60%, move over to the right a bit and apply the last drop shadow as you did for the tattoo. Erase any of the wire that shows on the left over the tattoo.

Open pd-star-01, paste as a new layer and bring to the top. Resize 80%, place in position on the top, right hand corner of the top frame and apply the original drop shadow of vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open pd-pin, resize 40% and place in position on the star. Erase part of the top bar of the pin so it looks like its pinned through the star and then apply the same drop shadow as you did for the tattoo and wire, vertical and horizontal 1, opacity 80, blur 3.

Open pd-star-02 and paste as a new layer. Resize 75%, place in position on the left hand side of the top frame and apply the drop shadow vertical and horizontal 5, opacity 70, blur 10.

Open your tube and paste as a new layer. Resize as required, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-ribbon03 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-flower-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 50%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Open pd-hearts-01 and paste as a new layer. Resize 40%, place in position and apply the last drop shadow.

Check the positions of all your elements and when you are happy, crop your tag and resize if required. Add your copyright information and text and export as a jpg with compression set to 5 or on a transparent background as a png.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, if you have an questions, please email me here. I would love to see your result and feature it in my tag gallery!
