Holiday Magic

In this tutorial I used a beautiful tube from
This was a free tube for completing a Quest in

The re-released kit is “Holiday Magic” from
and can now be purchased at

I used 4 winter mask (2) from

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 65, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 750 pixels and fill with white.

Paste the mask and resize it 28%.  Select all, float and defloat the mask, make a new layer, paste paper 3 into the selection, deselect and delete the original black mask layer.

Paste element 25, resize 80%, place in position, apply the drop shadow and change the blend mode to “Hard Light”.

Paste element 5, resize 90%, place in position and apply the drop shadow

Paste element 36 and resize 80%, use your Pick tool to push it in one end and make it less wide then place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste your tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I resized my tube 25%.

Paste element 6, drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  You will need to erase the bottom part of this later when you have your other elements in position.

Paste element 49, resize 80%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 32a, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 10, resize 30% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 12, resize 30% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 2, resize 80% and flip, drag down to just above the cage, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 15, resize 80%, position just below the word art and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 44 on the top, resize 40%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 43, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 29, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14, resize 40%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 21, resize 20% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 24, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 22, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 11, resize 12%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 8, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1, resize 12% and rotate 50 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any adjustments.

Select the mask, float and defloat it, paste the tube again.  How you do this depends on what works best with your tube. I mirrored mine, resized it 90% and changed the blend mode to “Overlay”.  When you have your tube in position, invert the mask select and hit delete on the tube, then deselect.    I then erased most of the tube from the mask leaving just the fawn’s face using a biggish brush on a low opacity so it blended in.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.

In this tutorial I used the art of

I kit is “Radiant Frost” from
This republished kit is part of a double kit pack called
“Xmassy 1”
and can be purchased at

Mask is (2015) 4 from

Font of choice.

Unless otherwise stated, I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 65, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 750 pixels and fill with white.

Paste the mask as a new layer and resize it 22%.  Select all, float and defloat the mask, make a new layer, paste paper 5 into the selection, deselect and delete the original black mask layer.

Paste element 20 and resize 40%.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10, make a new layer below it, open paper 10, flip it, copy it, paste it into the selection and deselect.   Apply a drop shadow to the frame of vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100 and blur 15 then merge the frame down onto the paper and position it on the left.

Paste the tube, resizes 60% and position on the merged layer with her head just above the top of the frame then use your Pick tool to stretch the merged layer down longer so it’s just a bit longer than the tube (the Pick tool blurs a little so be sure to sharpen it up after).    Duplicate the merged layer, resize the copy 90% and mirror it, duplicate the tube, resize the tube also 90% and mirror it, position the copies on the right and apply the drop shadow to both tubes (remember to change the settings).

Paste element 6 and rotate 90 degrees to the left, duplicate, mirror the copy, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 5, resize 65%, duplicate, mirror and flip the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 8, resize 70% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 10, resize 75%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 9, resize 55% and rotate 90 degrees to the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 23, resize 60%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 18, resize 25% and rotate 50 degrees to the left, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, drag below both copies of element 9, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 2 on the top, resize 45%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 22, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 22a, resize 25% and rotate 70 degrees to the right, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers now and make any adjustments.

Paste element 13, resize 25%, drag below element 5, duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 27, resize 35% and duplicate three times times, resize of the copies another 80% and duplicate that three times.  Place in position just above the mask and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 3, resize 5%, go to Adust _ Blur – Gaussian blur and apply with the radius set to 30.  Duplicate, drag down and position on copy along the bottom of each tube.

When you are all done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.

Christmas Wishes

In this tutorial I used the tube “Lucy” from
You can purchase the tube from

I used a really pretty kit called “Pink Christmas”.
The kit is part of the double pack “Xmassy 1” from
This kit was previously for sale in a different store and
I have already used it in two tutorials.
You can purchase it now at

I used mask 1 from set 36 by

Font of choice.

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 45, blue 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 700 by 700 and fill with white.

Paste element 1 and resize 85%.

Open the mask and mirror it.  Make a new layer below the element, select all, paste paper 1 into the selection, deselect and apply the mask.   Resize the mask 90% and lower the opacity to around 60.  When I had finished my tag I used the Pick tool on my mask to adjust the size a little more.

Paste element 5 on the top and resize 65%.  We will come back to this.

Paste the tube, resize 55%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.  I recoloured the pink dress slightly as it didn’t quite go with the kit and also recoloured her very blue eyes!

Paste element 3, resize 40% and mirror (be sure to sharpen this element up well), drag below the tube, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 15, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 30, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 22, resize 40% and duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 28 on the top, resize 40% and duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 20, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 12, resize 40%, drag below elements 28 and 20, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 21, resize 20%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 24, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 26 and drag above both copies of element 28, resize 60%, place in position, duplicate, flip the duplicate, position so the centre part shows below element 20 and erase the ends, apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 9, resize 15%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 13, resize 35%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 14, resize 35%, place in position erasing the top of the chain and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers and make any adjustments.

Paste the tube again below element 5 (the frame), resize 60%, position in the element and change the blend mode to “Overlay”.

Paste paper 5 as a new layer below this tube, resize the paper 60% and position it so the pink and gold shade nicely on the tube.  Select the interior of the element with your magic wand, expand the selection by 10, invert the selection, hit delete on both the tube and the paper, deselect and apply the drop shadow to the frame.

When you are done, crop your tag, add your copyright information and text and export on a transparent background as a png.

Santa's train

In this tutorial I used the gorgeous cat  that
Comes with the tube “Christmas girl fairy with a cat” by
You can purchase the tube at

I used part of the collab “Hung With Care” by
This is an awesome collab between Simone and
The kit includes four animations and can be purchased at

I used mask 4 from set 53 by

You will need Animation Shop for the animation.

Font is

I used a drop shadow of vertical 0, horizontal 5, opacity 75, blur 10.

Open a new transparent canvas 750 by 700 pixels and fill with white.

Make a new layer, select all, pate paper 9 into the selection, deselect, apply the mask and resize it 95%.

Paste frame 4 and resize 65%.  Click with your magic wand anywhere on the canvas outside of the frame to make a selection, invert the selection and contract it by 20, make a new layer below the frame and paste paper 4 in to the selection.  Make another layer, now paste paper 5 into the selection and deselect.   Change the blend mode on paper five to “Screen”, apply the drop shadow to the frame, close off the white background and mask layers and merge visible.  Re-open the closed layers and move the merged layer into position.

Paste element 40, resize 50%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 6, resize 30% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 16, resize 65%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 39, resize 50%, duplicate, mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 10, resize 50%, duplicate mirror the duplicate, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 31, resize 30% and mirror and place in position.  Do not apply the shadow yet.

Paste element 50, resize 35% and place in position.  Again, do not apply the shadow yet.

Paste the small cat with the hat on, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 11, resize 70%, drag below the cat and position on the right, duplicate, move the duplicate over to the left and apply the drop shadow to each.

Paste element 18, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 9, resize 25%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 24, resize 30%, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Paste element 1, resize 12% and mirror, place in position and apply the drop shadow.

Check your layers now and make any adjustments, you need to be very careful about their placement leaving a gap for the train to run along.

Crop your tag and add your copyright information and text.

ANIMATION:

Duplicate the toy chest and the drum, drag the copy of the chest up so it is immediately below the copy of the drum and apply the drop shadow to both of them.
Close off all the layers starting at the bottom up to and including the bottom copies of the chest and drum and merge visible.  Close of this layer, open the close layers and again merge visible.

Open the bottom layer, copy it and paste it in Animation Shop “As a new animation”.  Open the bonus animation.  You will see this animation has 24 frames, we want an extra frame so duplicate your bottom layer until you have 25 frames.   Resize the train animation 70%, then select all the frames and copy them (Edit – Select all – Edit – Copy).  Click on the first layer frame, then right click and “Paste into selected frame” and paste the train on your tag.

Now back in Paint shop, open the top merged layer of your tag, copy it and paste it in Animation Shop “As a new animation”.  Duplicate this layer so you have 25 copies, select all the frames, copy them and paste them on your tag using the toy box and drum to line it up.

Go to View – Animation and check everything is ok and the train is well positioned.  If  not, undo and have another go (took me a few times to get it right).

When you are happy, run your tag through the Optimization Wizard and save as a gif.
